I personally believe in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. It is when you pray to God to have the Baptism in the Holy Spirit and you are then able to speak in a language unknown to you after some practice and you will get many other spiritual gifts. This helps you in becoming closer to God and knowing God better. It is specific to Christians.

I'm sorry that some of you are don't believe, it isn't anything bad. Baptism of the holy spirit with one of the gifts as being able to speak in tongues is another level in being a Christian. I am saved by my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and have repented and asked forgiveness of my sins, so if you say I am not saved, you are a liar and I am sorry that you would say that.

One of you said the following and I would like to add it in my details because I forgot to add it before and it is true....
I do, and the thing some don't understand is there are various tongues, some to worship God for yourself, some to give a message/with interpretation by either the one who spoke it, or another one who is filled and also gifted, others to speak in another's own language to tell them of the glory of God
Paul wrote it
It is a wonderful thing to be filled with God's Holy Spirit and be led by Him

I am able to speak in tongues as my personal prayer language, not to be interpreted for the edification of the church. I use tongues to pray when I'm not sure what specifically needs to be prayed for. Why would I fake speaking in tongues when God is my only audience for the ones that accuse of this?

I know tongues is the lesser gift but it is the easiest one for me to explain and the more controversial one. I never had any extraordinary experience I would say outside of speaking for the first time in my personal prayer language in my car on the way to work...

I had to practice a bit, but not really. I didn't know how to explain. I had to surrender myself to allow God to use me to speak in that prayer language. It took me a month after I was baptized in the spirit before I could use that gift.

I have to say that I know that everyone who truly accepts Jesus into their hearts as Lord and Savior have the Holy Spirit living in them already but in my experience I had to accept the gifts...and I was told in this that you have to pray the baptism in the Holy Spirit. I found in my experience this to be true and found nothing in the Bible to say it is wrong and feel in my spirit that it is right.

I'm sorry about the level thing....I didn't mean it like that since there are some baptized with the Holy Spirit at conversion like one of you said. I just meant it is closer to God than someone who wasn't baptized by the Holy Spirit.

By closer to God I mean having a closer relationship in order to do his will and having more tools to do his will.

It's complicated but I'm thankful for everyones input. I know what I believe but each Christians walk is different than another's. I am not a "better" Christian for being baptized in the Holy Spirit and there are many Christians out there that don't have the baptism that still are saved and do God will the best they are able. Thanks for everyone's viewpoint. I know I'm not the best to explain this but I wanted to know what everyone thought. God bless you all.

I am baptized with the Holy Spirit. Although, I do need to make a quick edit to your statement. (hope you don't mind)
You stated that being Baptized with the Holy Spirit is another "level" of being a Christian. Remember, there are some believers who are Baptized with the Holy Spirit at conversion, who Know nothing of Love and grace yet, but are very annointed. While others who have been walking with the Lord for many years have not been baptized with the Holy Spirit.
The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is for the sake of empowering them to minister to others, not to make them some Super Christian in the know.
We must be careful not to mistake the gifts of the spirit with the fruit of the spirit, which is the true test of a Christian's maturity. (The antichrist will be able to perform many miracles.)

There is absolutely nothing in the Bible to indicate that there might be some separate baptism of the Holy Spirit that some Christians experience, while others do not.
According to John the Baptist, Jesus, when He came, would baptize believers with fire, and with the Holy Spirit. He didn't specify that only SOME believers would be baptized with fire and with the Holy Spirit...
Jesus never said anything to indicate that there would be a special group of Christians who would have any experience that any other Christian would not have. There is only ONE Holy Spirit, and He is a part of every Christian. No exceptions.
My Bible tells me that there is
ONE Lord
ONE faith...
And
yes, boys and girls
only
ONE BAPTISM!
It is the Holy Spirit who divides Spiritual gifts to people, as He wills...not "on demand", as some seem to think. When Paul gives a list of these gifts, the gift of tongues is awayyyyy at the bottom of the list...not a very important gift at all.
Yes, the Holy Spirit helps each and every Christian to grow in Christ, becoming closer to God, and getting to know Him a little better.
The Holy Spirit is specific to Christians...
But that doesn't mean that there isn't a counterfeit spirit masquerading as our own Holy Spirit...and carrying many people away in their own pride.
Watch out for him, he comes bearing gifts and so-called miracles...but he is an evil spirit in disguise.

Yes, it is real, but the closer you get to God the more the the devil will fight you.I have had some bad expriences in trusting, wolves in sheeps clothing,Always put your faith in God-not man-no matter what gift he may tellyou they have. Please be very careful in this spiritual realm. In a lot of peoples quest for the spirital blessings they forget the basics, Loving one another, Too much pride.can get in their way. Be careful little lamb. I have been to different churchs, to find that they all can have the holy spirit in them -some are gentle soothing & fulfilling. Some, can have great waves of the spirit ,only to leave you empty the next day.Always remember that a persons fruit will bear their testimony.ex- My daughter-9 goes to a Methodist Church, she was telling her friend about it. Her, friend responded"i don`t go anywhere they don`t speak in tongues" Well, I`ve heard her parents screaming some of the nastiest curses to their adult son one day.My daughter was visiting her at their house--I was outside, waiting for her -(no she doesn`t go in anymore).--Sweetie When I received the gift of tongues it felt like warm oil on top of my head, I did NOT try to speak it -it came out- I did not feel worthy at all to recieve it. But if your heart is right, I`m not judging you,but if you don`t feel the Holy Spirit consume you , don`t speak it,try the spirits & yes, you will be able to disern other people`s , if they are real or not GOD .Bless YOU

Why must you practice it? That speaks of something that is learned, such as yodelling. People have been involved with religious chants and incoherent babble for as long as history has been recorded, or passed on. I don't know if I believe. There is certainly a huge amount of pretending I know. Whether some of it is authentic....? Why is it required? Doesn't God understand english? I would not make dangerous claims about what the HS does or does not do though. A charismatic once told me that because his worship is so dependent on emotion, he suffers a tremendous low when he goes home. Similar to coming down from certain drug induced highs.

Yes you got part of it right. But the gifts are tools used for service in God's kingdom. To help win others to Christ, to heal, etc......but mainly for winning people to Christ. God distributes them out, all of them, to each born again christian, and whatever a situation requires, is whatever gift is given. We all as born again christians have access to all of the gifts. Not just one or two. The moment a person is born again, they are baptised with the Holy Spirit. Even if they don't have an unusual "experience" with God like falling to the ground out cold or speaking in toungues. Sometimes people have an experience at another time but it is just God annointing them with power, they had access to the gifts before when they got saved. Speaking in tongues is the least of the gifts. And it is meant to be used as a private prayer, unless God decides to use two people (the other for interpretation) in a church for a corporate message to all who is there.

Do not believe in tongues happening today in churches, I think it is fake, and a showy display of people pretending they are special/ and/or who just are trying to be acceptable to that group.
Tongues happened on Pentecost Day way back after Christ resurrected to spread the gospel.
They will happen again in the future before Christ returns, only God's election will be able to speak in tongue.
People who hear the tongue then will understand what is being said no matter what language they know or speak.
I think you just need to educate yourself in the bible only, not all of the things you speak of.
How do you know that the tongues you are hearing are not demonic? You don't and I bet
that the people who are speaking them are somewhat shaky people. Think about this.
You yourself sound a little shaky to me as though you are trying just too hard to prove this so-called tongue gift.
Why don't you just speak to God in your regular voice and thoughts? then you will even understand what you are thinking and have control over your mind.
Maybe, you are actually battling with an evil spirit in your mind and life. We all have experienced this battle, but this seems to have gotten a hold on you and I don't think you realize it,
but I do think you know it deep inside.

The presents of the Holy Spirit are distinctive. speaking in tongues is between the least of those presents. no longer anybody might have the comparable presents--they're distinctive. speaking in tongues develop into meant to succeed in people who communicate different languages with the intention to convey them the Gospel. speaking in a "heavenly" tongue does not in good condition that distinctive type...and develop into no longer manifested till a while later while human beings have been observed as making the speaking in tongues a considerable present. There are presents that are partly, and not everlasting--in different words, they are going to bypass away and the choose for them would be not greater. this is it seems that reported in numerous sections of the hot testomony. as quickly as all of us get to heaven, prophecies and tongue speaking would be redundant. anybody will understand the language of Heaven...and the prophecies will all have been fulfilled as quickly as we are returned on the hot and recreated Earth enjoying our lives worshiping God, and gaining wisdom of roughly reality and actual technology of the Universe. in case your tongue speaking could be used via God to convey people who do no longer understand the Gospel into the fold of religious Israel...to be grafted into the actual Vine...then you definately can evaluate your present to be from the Holy Spirit. those cases, it somewhat is hassle-free to be deceived via different spirits that are actually not the Holy Spirit...try the spirit this is on your existence...does it shop the Commandments of God and supply you the religion and Testimony of Jesus?

That's a little radical. If you feel that's good for you, then go ahead. It's not a truism though. It's where you place your own belief and mind at.
