I thought "The Church" is the body of believers, but yet I see the RCC called 'the Church.'

Because they are conceited enough to believe that they hold the claim of being the only church of Jesus. They mistake a denomination for the church when the church is not a building nor is it a denomination. The church is comprised of all Christians.

Because it is the result of the fulfillment of a prophecy written in so many verses in the Bible that in the last days many false prophets shall arise and shall decieve many. It is the false prophets that builds the false churches. But the bible also supplied the signs of the true Church build upon the STONE, which cannot be moved or "the gates of hell shall not prevail against". One account says that If anyone would want to obey His will, he shall know of the DOCTRINE, whether it be of God or whether "i speak of myself". The one that speak for oneself seeks his own glory but the one that seeks the glory of the One who sents him he is true and unto him has no error. (John 7:17-18)

You're right, dear one, RCC is wrong. Mormons claim the same thing. Christians know that the true Church is the entire body of Christ. i.e. all of those who have accepted His sacrifice as payment in full for their sins.

Great question, God bless you!

They have 1500 years of history on their side where they had a monopoly.

Catholics refer to the Roman Catholic Church because they believe that it is the one, true church. All others are considered heretics.

Regarding that last point -- look up "heretic" in the dictionary, and you will see they are right.

Not "some".. ALL Catholics call our church "The Church" because it is the original Christian church.
For us it is THE Church, no other could replace it or even come close.

I have no idea what RCC stands for. But I have the answer to your question. People refer to their particular or religion as"the church" becuae they believe it is either the closest to Bible truth.OR if they are really strict they truly believe they ARE the"only" people on earth going to Heaven, period. I know a few!!!!!!!!!!!

People call their church "The Church" because it is the one true church according to the Church of God, Church of Christ, the Mormons, JWs, and a host of other Christian sects and cults.

All the other Churches broke off from the Catholic Church.

There is only one Body of Christ that is composed of all those who are in the state of grace and ,ultimately,it's up to God to discern who is and who is not

May Jesus prayer that all may be one be realized soon.;meanwhile, let us love one another and serve god and each other in a humble and generous quest for the fullness of Truth.

You are right, the Church or Bride of Christ is every Christian on this Planet. I know some denominations say they are the only ones but my Bible does not say that, you are right!!!

"The Church" is the body of believers, as you stated. The Catholic Church believes that it is the only church and the only way to God because they believe that Peter was named as the head of the Roman Catholic Church by Jesus. They are incorrect in both their understanding and interpretation of the Word of God.
