I believe it COULD happen. Didn't they change their minds about divorce and remarriage? Never thought that would happen either.

Only if they show us by their "example."

Popes and Cardinals FIRST.

The Pope, by reason of his office and as pastor of the entire Church, has full, supreme, and universal power over the whole Church, a power which he can always exercise unhindered.

So, theoretically, he could pass any edict he wanted.

But he would not pass any edict that is not agreed upon by the college of bishops and a large majority of the Church.

A Pope can be ruled as incapacitated if he becomes medically or psychologically unfit for office.

By the way, the rules for divorce and remarriage have not changed.

With love in Christ.

The Pope doesn't pass an edict based on what he personally thinks or wants for us. First of all he would never be that ignorant. He goes strictly by the bible and Gods laws. He does not exclude his self when it comes to obeying Gods commandments. I love the Pope and sincerely trust in his judgment. What he says or does I do believe is for the best interest of the people. God bless the Pope. And you too.

If the Pope and the Cardinals passed an edict then that would mean quite a few meetings and dialog, world wide - so YES it would make it OK.
Issues as important as you stated such as divorce and remarriage also took time and world wide meetings and dialog, suicide would also, as all issues that affect life do.

No. Our life belongs to God---This would never happen as Jesus himself would extinguish the Popes life before he let him declare a false Dogma--"The gates of Hell shall not prevail against her"

I am glad Pastor Art feels that way because then everybody who is in his "flock" can run away with a clear conscience

The Magisterium (Teaching Authority) of the Church is guided by the Holy Spirit. It would be highly unlikely that they would advocate something that for centuries they have taught is a grave sin. Besides, I expect they have better things to do with their time than to pass stupidity into law.

the government would still consider it a crime.
If the suicide was incomplete this person would be charged with attempted murder and invited to spend 21 days in Bellwood.

That could never happen because it says in the bible that it is wrong to commit suicide. Out life is not ours to take, only God can take our life from us.

Church practices change; dogmas don't. Suicide and other forms of it is a sin according to Catholic dogma.

Jesus also said don't call any man on earth "father".

Matt 23:9

The context of that statement is how to address religious leaders in the public square.

Its not about how children talk to their male parent.

Some denominations teach against what Jesus taught.

If you find your denominaiton teaches against what Jesus taught its time for you to find a new denomination.
