I am trying to help a friend who keeps saying negative things about themself. I tell them, "you can do all things through Christ who gives you strength". Can you think of any other scriptures for someone with a very negative self image? They are Christian but as you know, we all mature at different paces. Thanks.

Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

When I was in school I was in 9th grade the basic history and beliefs of all other world religions, except christianity. Dont you think, given how important religion plays a role in different societies, that religion needs to be taught in school?

Why would you exclude religion from the curriculum when religion shapes sooo many societies around the world, esp now that we have a global economy and society?

Isnt the teaching of religion in school vital to a persons education, esp in the world we live in today?

Mark 12:30-31

When questioned about the most important commandment, Jesus responded by saying that Love is the most important commandment. He did not say "ME!".

Jesus, the prophet, came to earth with a message. Did we miss the point? Yes, I know the passage: John 14:6. Where he says that no comes to the father but through him. Yet Jesus was a prophet. And through his death we are all aware of his message. Did not the Father not now this? Perhaps this was the only way to get this message of Love to us? And so through Jesus, we have the message of Love and thus the way to the Father, yet we do not need the name of Jesus on our lips.

Even if we were to make the argument that Jesus were the true Son of God and IS God. Few Christians would argue that God is Love. So if we have Love, then we have God and if we have God, then we have the Son. For the Father is in the Son and the Son is the Father. Why are you Christians so judgemental and exclusive? Love is all you need, no?

Today, while stuck in traffic (again) on the 60, I noticed that the little Honda in front of me was giving too much room in front of him. Cars kept getting in front of him, and so in front of me. I knew it was a "him" because I was focusing all my psychic powers and ray gun eyes into his rear view mirror, hoping upon hope that he knew that the gas pedal was on the right.
Then, I noticed it. Two fish emblems on the back of his car.
One had "Jesus" in the middle and one had "Christ" in the middle. Blood starting to boil. Smoke, I am sure was escaping with a hiss out of my ears. Yea, I wanted at that moment to just ram into him.
But,,, then I got it. The fish emblems were centered on the "H" for Honda. "Jesus" "H" "Christ".
I laughed for the next twenty minutes I was behind him, and wouldn't dare allow anyone between us so that I could keep laughing until traffic broke.
So, what do you think the chances are that this guy was an atheist?

The Anointing Spirit -1 John 2: 20,27
The Sealing Spirit -2 Cor 1:22
The Pledging Spirit -2 Cor 5:5
The Spirit as an inheritance -Eph 1:13-14

Please expound or share on each aspect of the Spirit.
How is the anointing different from the Pledge and the pledge from the sealing and the sealing from the inheritance and promise.

And not offend students. Is it ok to feel offended when that happens. Would that be a good reason to complain?

Might seem like a strange question but there's a lot of "us vs. them" around here (I'm as much to blame as anyone) and I thought it might be nice to do something a little different. So let's all list one thing we like about a self-proclaimed atheist (or several of them) who we've met, either here or somewhere else.

I'll go first. I used to work with a couple of people who were atheists and they were always very nice to me, very welcoming, and would always be there to help whenever I or anyone else needed it. They would also generously share whatever they had - mostly food lol. Those were good times and I really miss those guys.

Has any believer ever had a real encounter with the living God? When I was a child I lived in upstate new york. My
parents did not know God and Didn't go to any church. A
neighbor started having snacks and bible readings at her home, and taught us about the ten commandments. some
time a few weeks later I acted real bad to show my friends
how tuff I was by making a new kid feel real sad. That night
after my parents sent me to bed I couldn't sleep.I started remembering what my neighbor had said about God and
I felt real guilty about what I had done, so I sat up in my bed
and prayed for the first time. I asked God to forgive me,and
while i was praying I heard him say in my spirt ( I LOVE YOU )
I answered Him and said : How could you love me, when I was
so mean to that little girl. As I was still speaking a bright light
came into my very dark room, it was so bright I had to cover
my face with my blanket. a few seconds latter I felt A hand on
my left shoulder and heard I love you

I think it's in the sun, because that would explain why we go UP to Heaven and why our loved ones are always looking down on us, and why it's unreachable. Please don't tell me that heaven is a spiritual plane... USE YOUR IMAGINATION

Okay, so I know there's no way for any of you to actually know this.

I just thought it would be fun to look back in a few weeks and see if the majority got it right. I also know this doesn't "belong" in R&S, but I like you guys the most. :)

So just humor me!

That being what...adaptation?

And that being said, how can they say then that we are not from apes?

It's not like comparing a dog to a whale, which have almost nothing in common.

If you consider that, two we would not easily see as related, then look at us compared to other primates, we are infinitely more similar to each other.

No matter how special people want to think we humans are, comparing us to other higher primates is just the same as comparing a dog to a wolf. Yes they are different, but it is obvious that somewhere long ago there is a connection.
