it always makes me cry when I think of the sheer joy of standing before God in his awesome power

"I can only imagine what it will be like, when I walk by Your side...
I can only imagine, what my eyes will see, when Your Face is before me!
I can only imagine. I can only imagine.
Surrounded by Your Glory, what will my heart feel?
Will I dance for you, Jesus? Or in awe of You, be still?
Will I stand in Your presence, or to my knees will I fall?
Will I sing 'Hallelujah!'? Will I be able to speak at all?
I can only imagine! I can only imagine!

I can only imagine, when that day comes, when I find myself standing in the Son!
I can only imagine, when all I will do, is forever, forever worship You!
I can only imagine! I can only imagine!

Yeah! I can only imagine!
Surrounded by Your Glory, what will my heart feel?
Will I dance for you, Jesus?

I first heard it right after my friend Pam went to be with the Lord after a long illness in a hospital bed and all I could think of was her dancing before the throne of God. It was truly a comfort.

I like Mercy Me's other song about heaven (written for one of their cousins that went to be with the Lord but before he went he asked they didn't sing I can only imagine.)

MercyMe - Homesick
From the album Undone

You're in a better place, I've heard a thousand times
And at least a thousand times I've rejoiced for you
But the reason why I'm broken, the reason why I cry
Is how long must I wait to be with you

I close my eyes and I see your face
If home's where my heart is then I'm out of place
Lord, won't you give me strength to make it through somehow
I've never been more homesick than now

Help me Lord cause I don't understand your ways
The reason why I wonder if I'll ever know
But, even if you showed me, the hurt would be the same
Cause I'm still here so far away from home

I close my eyes and I see your face
If home's where my heart is then I'm out of place
Lord, won't you give me strength to make it through somehow
I've never been more homesick than now

In Christ, there are no goodbye
And in Christ, there is no end
So I'll hold onto Jesus with all that I have
To see you again
To see you again

And I close my eyes and I see your face
If home's where my heart is then I'm out of place
Lord, won't you give me strength to make it through somehow
Won't you give me strength to make it through somehow
Won't you give me strength to make it through somehow

I've never been more homesick than now

Do your self a favour and hear it, ideally with the video. pay attention for the girl on Rebecca's left on the same time as they're "kicking interior the back seat". Her elbow-oriented dance strikes have given me greater exhilaration than this music ever ought to.

Yes! First, I want to say that I am so sorry about your loss.

My brother passed away last year and this was played at his funeral. It brought me great peace as he had called me to tell me that he was diagnosed with a fatal disease. In that conversation, I wept, he told me, "now, none of that, I wanted to be the one to tell you because it is just you and I left. I never wanted you to be the last one remaining as I wished to go home, the day after we buried you! I am ready and when God calls, don't cry because you know where I will be."

After this conversation, when this song played, it brought peace to my heart as I knew that my brother was going to experience this very song!

I have never heard it before, but the lyrics are beautiful.
I can imagine standing before God and Jesus Christ when I leave this worldly existence, and then I can see all my family and friends that have gone on before me. Oh what a joyous reunion it will be.

I love that song a lot, because we really don't know how we'll react to being in the presence of fullness of God's glory ...I estimate it to be nothing short of awesome.

Yes, I've heard it and loved it from the first. Now I hear it almost on a daily basis as my 5yo son sings it off and on throughout the day.
Sometimes it brings tears to my eyes and other times it sets me off with joyful giggles.
Blessings to all.
