I am trying to help a friend who keeps saying negative things about themself. I tell them, "you can do all things through Christ who gives you strength". Can you think of any other scriptures for someone with a very negative self image? They are Christian but as you know, we all mature at different paces. Thanks.

2 Corinthians 4 comes to mind...vs 5-10

This passage gives all of the glory to Christ and makes it clear that He is willing to work through us even though we are only earthen vessels. It also telss us in plain language that it will be part of our experience to be hard pressed, perplexed, and persecuted. It is OK to feel this way and it in no way is a negative commentary on our faith...quite the contrary the scripture proclaims it is part of the evidence of our faith !!

"For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus' sake. For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed--always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body."

Satan will attack us with the truth...it goes like this.

Who do you think you are, you hypocryte. Look at the way you think, the desires you cannot overcome, the secrets you hold, your weakness and confusion. You are not good enough to do anything for the One True Holy God.

All true.

The answer....

You are correct Lucifer...I am not good enough and never will be good enough but thanks be to God for the Blood of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. The blood of Jesus is the most powerful thing in the universe and God has covered me with it, sent me the Spirit to comfort and counsel me, and even though He agrees with you that I am not good enough, He proclaims that the Blood is good enough and that He wants me to work for Him in His harvest plan.

I rebuke you in the name of Jesus. Go away !!!

Mat 5:113 "You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt becomes tasteless, with what shall it be salted? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and to be trampled underfoot by men. 14 You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.

Joh 15:5 I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; because apart from Me you can do nothing.

Joh 15:16 You did not choose Me, but I chose you, and appointed you, that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, so that whatever you may ask the Father in My name He may give to you.

Act 1:8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."

1Co 3:16 Do you not know that you are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?

2Co 5:18 And all things are of God, who reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and who gave to us the ministry of this reconciliation,

2Co 6:1 And working together with Him, we also urge that you not receive the grace of God in vain.

Eph 2:4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and seated us together in the heavenlies in Christ Jesus,

Eph 2:10 For we are His handiwork, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

Eph 3:12 in whom we have the boldness and the access with confidence through faith in Him.

35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36As it is written:
"For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered."[a] 37No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[b] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

"...I will never leave you, nor forsake you; therefore I can boldly say, 'The Lord is my helper; I will not fear what man can do to me" (Hebrews 13:5b,6). Trials develop godly character. "...we exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; and perseverance, proven character, and proven character, hope; and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us...

Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

Have them read Hebrews chapter 11. The way of faith works both ways... faith in good things brings good things...

Faith in things that are not so good, brings things not so good.

Blessings and peace to all,
All in all,
