Are they fighting to be the atheist leader?

The reason I ask this is because Sam Harris said that atheists shouldn't call themselves atheists anymore.

And Richard Dawkins sells shirts with red As on them, telling people to embrace the term.

It just seems like they have a feud going on here.

another person on this forum said

"does it matter if we forgive you. You didn't sin against me. You sinned against God. And he WILL forgive and save you."

so why bother with the bowing, and the praising and the wasted time on sunday, when you can die, meet him, and go "well I was just doing what I thought was best for me, sorry if I offended you" and he goes, "yeah dude, it's cool, welcome to my pad"

What's stops atheists from forming "survival of the fittest" factions? For now we know this is a bad political position to take, but is it incompatible with atheism?

i have been reading a book by Chris Hedges about how and why people accept fundamentalist, extreme, and exclusive religious beliefs (mostly Islamic/Christian sects). Hedges examines the lives of some of the people that both lead and belong to some of more radical religious right and finds a number of common elements in the pre-conversion lives of "believers"; bad childhoods/home life’s, physical/sexual abuse, soured parental relationships, chaotic upbringings, drug/alcohol abuse, regretted abortions, and poverty.

do you think that people that come from these kinds of "broken" pasts are more easily radicalized/proselytized by religious extremists? are you a very religious person? if so, could/would you share what events made you convert to your present religion, and did you experience any of the above listed circumstances? do you think these circumstances shaped your current belief structure?

thank you for your sincere thoughts.

What are the central tenets of atheism, and if they have a "greatest commandment," what is it? For example, arguably, Christianity's is "Love the Lord your God with all of your heart, mind, soul and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself."

Is all meaning subjective, or do some activities have self-evident and objective worth and meaning. If so, what are these activities, and how to you arrive at their value?

If you say that the 3 (Spirit, Jesus, God) are separate, you are blaspheming because there is only one Almighty God.

To get around this you say that the 3 are 1.

However, saying that 3 is 1, doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

Using my amazing mathematical calculation skills, I've counted the amount of Gods in the trinity:

Jesus is God
Holy spirit is God
God is God

That's 1, 2 and 3 Gods!

Jesus spoke to God in heaven while he was on earth, how can the 3 (Spirit, Jesus, God) be one if Jesus spoke to a separate Being and vice versa?

Jesus told the disciples that the holy spirit would be their helper, how can the 3 (Spirit, Jesus, God) be one?

Please don't tell me that I need more faith, I don't need more faith to believe in something illogical & unbiblical that was made up by the church.

It now takes 2 people to report someone for them to be violated. I've noticed that at different times of the day there are more Christians, Muslims, Jews, atheists, etc. than at other times.
Do you, (if the shoe fits here, wear it) feel that by reporting someone who speaks against your religion or your prophet, that you are defending the faith in your own small way?
If you knew who I was and could get away with it, would you arrest me, beat me, or even kill me?
That, my friend, does not make me respect you or your religion any more or your prophet.
Does anyone agree that some religious groups realize that if at least 2 of them report you you will get a violation notice and your question or answer deleted?
Should we all make this known to Yahoo?

Some scholars believe that Jesus was actually married, since most Jewish men were at that time (I saw this on the History Channel). This idea also was featured in "The DaVinci Code."

But just focusing on the idea of Jesus being married, why do so many people have a problem with it? Is it the whole concept of Jesus having "relations" that upset people?
