Good writer. He should think more about the logic he employs to ostensibly prove God doesn't exist (lots of begging of questions and ad hominem arguments), but his writing style is unimpeachable.

While an authority on the theory of evolution, and a knowledgeable professor of biology, he is ill equipped to debate religion. I find that, although he makes some good points, his arguments are weak and not well thought out. He is also unable to debate well, relying on attacking and dismissing the other side. In all, I find him arrogant, obnoxious and dismissive.

I have read his books and think he is very passionate about what he believes. He makes very good points and takes the argument of evolution vs creationism to the level of Religion vs Science. He is not against any one religion or a certain school of thought but instead is against anything that is based on superstition and cannot be based on fact or tested by science...I have included below a link to his shows on BBC. Christians wanting to know their enemy and wanting to study what they need to protect their religion against will be very interested in his lectures and shows.

An intelligent man who is angry at religion and mumbo jumbo whose time arrived in an age and place where he is less at risk of being killed for speaking out against the negative effects of such things. I agree that his manner is often quite arrogant and dismissive, but I disagree that religionists have any moral high ground in that respect!
I feel his contribution to society and learning is very important and I thank him for it.

He's an amazingly intelligent man. I've heard several interviews with him, done on BBC radio, and he's brilliant. Even people who don't agree with him surely can see that he's well-educated and super-smart. Maybe they should listen, at least a little, and consider what he's saying.
BTW, the burden of "proof" is not on him to prove there is no god. The burden is on the believers to prove god exists. When you have a criminal trial, for example, do you bring in everyone who DIDN'T do it and have them testify? No; you've got one guy on trial and the prosecution needs to prove that he did it. And, trust me, Dawkins and the rest of us aren't worried about the judgment of a god we know isn't there.

I actually thought The Selfish Gene was his best work. A very well deserved classic.

Love his book! I read from it every Sunday AM for spiritual guidance and the strength to face yet another week in the a$$-aching theocracy America has become!
