The Church law involved is Canon 915 which states that those who obstinately persist in manifest grave sin are not to be admitted to Holy Communion.

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops' statement "Catholics in Political Life" says:

Therefore, like every Catholic generation before us, we must be guided by the words of St. Paul, “Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of profaning the Body and Blood of the Lord” (1 Cor 11:27).

And continues that it is up to each Bishop in their diocese and on a case by case basis to decide whether or not to deny Holy Communion to Catholic politicians because of their public support of abortion.

I am Catholic, and the only way this would happen is if that person has not had the first holy communion, or been baptised. My dad was a Eucharistic minister, of course I haven't been to church in a long time, (bad I know) but it's when you recieve the body and blood of christ.

They are either not Catholic, or are living in an unrepentant state of mortal sin.

He may have knowledge that they are in mortal sin or have not yet received the other sacraments which precede it.

It means that person either professed a belief in a heresy or is living unrepentant in sin, something bad enough to get him kicked out of the church.

It means they are not Catholic or have done something really bad. I disagree with the Catholic church withholding sacrament only on ground that one is not Catholic. Sacrament is for everyone.

Perhaps you should see the Perspective from that of A Born Again Christian.... and not that of Catholic Doctrine!

As a Christain.... we are told by the Word of GOD.....

(1Corinthians 11:23-to-30) For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which he was betrayed took bread;

(1Co 11:24) And giving thanks, He broke it and said, "Take, eat; this is My body, which is broken for you; this do in remembrance of Me."

(1Co 11:25) In the same way He took the cup also, after supping, saying, "This cup is the New Covenant in My blood; as often as you drink it, do this in remembrance of Me."

(1Co 11:26) For "as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you show" the Lord's death until He shall come.

(1Co 11:27) So that = whoever = shall eat this bread and drink this cup of the Lord unworthily, = he will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.

(1Co 11:28) But = let a man examine himself, = and so let him eat of that bread and drink of that cup.

(1Co 11:29) For he = who eats and drinks unworthily = eats and drinks condemnation = to himself, = not discerning the Lord's body.

(1Co 11:30) For this cause = many among you are weak and sickly, = and many sleep [are Dead].

As a Christain... My Conscience is BETWEEN ME.... AND... GOD...!

And.... NO Pastor.... Nor Preacher... nor Bishop ... nor... Priest.... can forbid me.... from taking the Lord's Supper... UNLESS.... I AM LIVING IN .... OUTRIGHT SIN AND REBELLION .... AGAINST GOD!

GOD..... Sees My Heart.... ALONE!

IN MOST CHURCHES... Such Actions.... are Part and Parcel OF .... " CONTROL " and Not of Obedience TO GOD...!

Thanks, RR
