LOL!!!!
I understand your point. Depends on the Church. If it is well established and very large - ten to one they will look down upon you because you are not as "established" as them or as rich. If it is a new and up and coming church then they need all the money they can get. Now, if it is a church that is very old and have generations of parishioners in their church then money is not their objective and will understand (as long as you aren't baptized in their faith and become a full fledged member - then they want you to pay your part to attend)
But my church loves herbs and incense, also fruit and breads. Sometimes the roof leaks but we all will rejoice and dance around in it when it does. We even light a fire in our church when it is cold and tell wonderful stories to each other. When it is warm and sunny our church provides shade and we feel protected in our faith. The only requirement though is during the holidays you MUST bring food to share with the congregation. And we even accept Christians of all denominations, Buddhists, Muslims, Taoists, and Jews.
So come on over. Our church is international and there is usually one in your backyard.

Define church. My church is the forest behind my house. I go as often as I can, and at least on Sundays ;)
It requires no money, and if you'd like to give an offering of herbs or incense, I'm quite sure the Goddess would be pleased.. however, it is NOT a requirement. Isn't it great to be a pagan?

Remember that old song from the sixties Signs?

"And the sign said everyone welcome come in, kneel down and pray but when they passed the plate I didn't have anything to give, so I took out a pen an paper and made up my own little sign, saying thank you Lord for thinking about me I am alive to do it fine. Saying , signs everywhere a sign can't you see your really breaking my mind don't do this and don't do that can't you read the sign."

That may not be exactly word for word how the song goes but it is close enough to get my drift.

Uhh... tithing is not really a requirement is it? I mean I'm sure God would understand. You can't give what you don't have. Besides, what good is having a lotta money if you're not willing to treat urself every now and then?

hehe

Maybe the incense would get rid of the awful new pew smell.

A good tithe would be to give a hungry person some food.

That depends on the church. The Catholic church would probably accept incense, but only as collateral. Don't think that gets you out of paying any money, cause it doesn't! It just allows grace to keep God from pouring out his wrath on you for one more week.... Just don't do it again!

This reminds me... I think I've finally saved up enough for that sword I've been wanting. Thanks! =) (ah, I already know I'm going to hell) lol

All they would do with the incense is use, say a little Latin and say how "their god" put the incense in their hands and it was "gods will" for them to have it.

As for the tithe, tell them to bill you!

*giggle*

Depends on the church.

You know, I just thought of something I really like - wouldn't it be wonderful if people put receipts for having given money to homeless shelters or food banks into the collection plate instead of money?
