Ok... here is the thing, I am 20 years old, and my mother, whom I have a close relationship with, announced that she is divorcing my dad, who has fallen into mental illness (he is really unbearable to be with now) - he is a college professor, now he is completely insane. My mom can't bear it anymore because his condition is not changing... However, she had not told my Dad yet, and she told me not to tell him either... She already got an apartment of her own and plans on leaving in a month.

I am really feeling sorry for my dad, it breaks my heart to see the poor man lose everything like this... even though I understand why my mother is leaving - she can't live her life taking care of a crazy person...

Should I go ahead and give my dad a heads up in hopes that he may change? I was thinking about telling him, "heads up you are about to lose your wife, unless you don't do anything about it?" But I'm not sure how he will react... I don't want to betray my mom, he may explode...

Why dp the girls who follow this religion have to wear skirts every day?

A friend told me it means if you wear skirts (every day) that you Hasve been "saved"

another told me it was so people would ask why they were wearing skirts and they could tell about there religion...

do you know some of the different beliefs of this religion? All I know is the speaking in tongues thing. What makes it different though.

Salvation is not just a one-time deal and mental assent to Biblical truth and the Gospel message!

Salvation for a Christian involves the past, present, and future!

We are saved in the past, in the sense that we are saved from the Penalty of sin in what is called “Justification”.

We are currently being saved in the present, in the sense that we are being saved from the Power of sin in what is called “Sanctification”.

We will yet be saved in the future, in the sense that we will be saved from the Presence of sin in what is called “Glorification”.

The initial Justification of a sinner is by grace alone through faith alone in Jesus Christ. It is a matter of the mind and heart. AND, it is a completely free, unmerited gift from God!

Upon receiving this FREE gift, a Christian is given the Holy Spirit to live and dwell within them.

Then, during the process of Sanctification, the Holy Spirit within convicts this believer of sin that remains, leading to repentance.

by tangible, I mean things that can be "seen under a microscope", touched, studied, measured, etc.

How about untangibles, such as: truth, person, justice, beauty, love, etc... I am right to say that we acknowledge that these things exist even if they can't be seen. Personally, I think that those values all point to the source--God.

"You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God. At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven." Matthew 22:29-32

according to that biblew passage there is no marriage in heaven.
suppose you believe in heaven, how does this quote make you feel? honestly it makes me not want to go to heaven and i dont even know who my wife is going to be. whoever she is i will have spent my entire life on earth here with her and she will be my best friend. than to go on living for the rest of eternity WITHOUT HER?? that breaks my heart. id rather just be dead and no heaven nor hell. how do you guys feel about this scenario?

Because we know for a fact that god doesn't exist. There is a HUGE difference and christians should learn that.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. And so far, the extraordinary (some say, ridiculous) claim that god exists has yet to produce ONE single, solitary shred of credible evidence to support it.
Someone once told me; "well the okapi wasn't discovered until the 1920's, does that mean that it did'nt exist before then?"
Not at all. But we're not talking about an elusive animal here, we're talking about a being that MILLIONS believe to be real yet not ONE of them can produce evidence to support it's reality.
Understand the difference now?

God is "all knowing" which includes "all seeing" and more. God knows what you look like and what your surroundings look like from every possible angle over the course of your entire life. God never stops looking, because if God did, then God would not be "all seeing" anymore. So an all-knowing, all-seeing God is clearly watching you poop.

Theists, do you think about this? God watching you sitting on the toilet trying to squeeze out a turd is like having 1000 video cameras pointed at you from all around the room - does that bother you?

It wouldn't bother me. And in fact, people who try to claim that God looks away while they poop probably think they can get away with sinning because God isn't paying enough attention. An all knowing (and therefore all-seeing) God is ALWAYS paying attention. What do you think?

If so, do the historical inaccuracies cast doubt on this?

If the alleged inaccuries should be dismissed, should the supposed accuracies be as well?

Humans make sacrifices to appease Gods. What higher power did God appease when he sacrificed his own son?

Since it was God's law that was broken, God had the power to forgive. Instead he had his own child to die instead of simply forgiving those who had wrronged Him.

If you wronged me, my choices are forgive or punish. I would usally choose to forgive. You are forgiven, now you may go. Or I may instead choose to punish. In that case I'd beat the crap out of you.

What if I decided on a different kind of justice? I really do want to forgive you. I devise a way that makes the most sense. I would have to beat the crap out of my son? To you this sounds reasonable so we agree.

My child is lying on the ground in a bloody heap but you are now off the hook.

This is salvation. God is good.
