To answer the first inquiry:
Because I have morals and intellect. And I am skeptical of all salespeople. The Crusades. Other atrocities committed in the name of Christianity.
To answer the second inquiry:
I have my freewill to lose.
As a side note, Christianity as a group doesn't have the greatest PR. Jack Van Impe? Did someone slip them some acid, or me some acid? Pat Robinson? Mr. Come-to-the-phones-with- your-checkbooks-open?
Jim Baker, PTL?
Did you hear the story about Jesus and the money changers? Fast forward a couple thousand years. If Jesus had been born in 1980, do you think he would be a part of this Church today, or trying to take it down?

I searched for thirty years, when someone would ask I would say I was a sentimental Christian- I checked out soo many religions. I read a bunch of holy books and went to so many churches, synogogues, temples, etc they all blur in together.
What I found in many cases were a lot of really nice good people but I did not find God. I learned a lot about a man called Jesus - who supposedly was born of a virgin. But I did not find God.
Once I sat one day and realized I didnt beleive in God anymore- I then recognized that I instantly felt better with myself since I no longer had need of a deity to live a good life. I needed no pacification or pretend piety. I live a good life, respect others, work hard and dont beleive in God. In most ways Im no different from you.

First of all are you trying to sell the man...or get people to come and know him? hahaha...umm cause that wasn't very good. Let me tell you something about "trying God" as you put it..lol. You can't force it on people, it's something they have to come to terms in their own time. Some do so don't. Who are we to judge those that don't? who are we to judge those that do? I have but I have very little faith does that mean I don't know God...no. The problem with most people is we're always trying to push others to see things our way because "our way" is the best. Why? just because you say so doesn't make it that way. God is always there and if people wanna "try" him I'm sure they know what to do (i.e what they gain and lose...whatever that means....lol)..but thanks for reminding us and all. have a good one!

I could lose my spirituality. I don't want to step backwards on my spiritual path, and I would be if I went to christianity. I'm not saying that christians are below me it's just that my path is different. It's not about a book telling me how to act, or fearing a god. Mine is about knowing how to act, take responsibility for those actions and knowing that the Gods and Goddesses are petty and they don't have human emotions.
Why don't you try Inanna or many of the other Pagan Gods and Godddesses? What do you have to lose?

Some of these answers are a disgrace, sorry to say.
I get tired of hearing about the money in church. I was treasurer at church for quite sometime and I know what it goes for. The up keep of the church, utilities as everyone else, insurance, repairs, literature, song books, Sunday school materials for the kids, toys for the nursery and to pay those who get paid. Most of our are volunteers, even the pastor.
I was without God for many years and I was lead to him by following my husband and experiencing Church and the love and the emotion and spiritual feeling, of God entering my heart and soul.
Most of you are just turning away, so why are you here?
If you don't like our beliefs and want to criticize, move on. We love each other and you, but don't believe we should have to defend our Christianity and God doesn't need defended, He will defend Himself.

Well mainly respect. I doubt anyone within good standing in todays society would give there blessing to a born again. It's almost a cry for help, instead of going to a therapist or seeking other outside help they turn to religion for some odd reason...

Is God on sale or something? How is someone supposed to "try God"? Either you believe or you do not. If you think this is possible, I suspect that you do not have a very strong belief in your god.

My personal belief system, dignity and the grasp I have on reality.
Why don't you try logic and what is been proven by science.
Try the experiment of the 60's where elements were shot through with electricity and organic compounds developed instantly
I'll quote Carl Sagan " I need to know not to believe"

My sanity for starters.
1) I'd have to believe in the bible even though it contradicts it's self.http://www.infidels.org/library/modern/jim_meritt/bible-contradictions.html#good_to_all
2) I'd have to believe in nonsense: Rev 4:8
And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within:
and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.
----And There's A lot More Where That came from----
3) I'd have to completely ignore fact & science.

The joy of life! Geeze, who wants to follow another man's set of rules that were written hundreds or thousands of years ago? You will also find that many who are non-believers have tried god for many years...something like 30 in my case before I woke up.
