Humans make sacrifices to appease Gods. What higher power did God appease when he sacrificed his own son?
Since it was God's law that was broken, God had the power to forgive. Instead he had his own child to die instead of simply forgiving those who had wrronged Him.
If you wronged me, my choices are forgive or punish. I would usally choose to forgive. You are forgiven, now you may go. Or I may instead choose to punish. In that case I'd beat the crap out of you.
What if I decided on a different kind of justice? I really do want to forgive you. I devise a way that makes the most sense. I would have to beat the crap out of my son? To you this sounds reasonable so we agree.
My child is lying on the ground in a bloody heap but you are now off the hook.
This is salvation. God is good.

God sacrified himself for us? Is God dead? Didn't Jesus allegedly rise from the dead?
Where was the sacrifice? It was all a cruel bloody display if had been real. Humans still had to bear the curse of original sin, yet Jesus lives.
Of course if I devised such a scheme my child would still be dead, a true sacrifice or murder since i'm not a deity.
You can't have it both ways people.

You are correct, it makes as much sense as your version. BUT they will not see it that way! Ignorance is bliss.... so they say.

If there's one thing that I can point to that most people have little or no understanding of , it's that God is HOLY. His infinitude means that He is infinitely HOLY. Now that no one can wrap their mind around. But what His Holiness means to us is that there is justice in His goodness and mercy. And while we could never approach that standard, Jesus Christ did, someone who knew no sin became sin for us so that we could know the righteousness of God and have a relationship with Him unlike any other.

i might prefer to furnish justice to terrorists. Get 0'Sama Bin Ladin (0'Bama pronounced he might) and positioned across him up over decrease long island in a helicopter. Throw out some leaflets that say; "0'Sama is in my chopper. he would be coming down in a minute" Then push him out donning an incredible parachute like they bounce tanks with so he will come down reeeeeeelly sloooooowly. initiate carnage. that's justice for a terrorist.

God, in essence, is Jesus. God the Father, God, the son, and God the Holy Ghost. When He came to earth He installed many miricales, and taught us how we as humans are to behave and act toward others. He showed compassion and love.
God scarificed Himself for us, which I'm sure you would do the same for your children.

You're likening yourself to God. God is perfect justice, you are not. Perfect justice demands that when there is a crime there must be a punishment. The wages of sin is death, so anyone who sins must die. We all sin. We're all in big trouble. But aside from being perfectly just, God is also perfectly loving. He doesn't want us to die. That's why God the Son came and stood in your place, to suffer for your sin. Now you don't have to die. But you can, if you want to. You can choose to reject God and pay the price yourself. That of course means you will spend eternity in hell, which is total separation from the God you've spent your life rejecting.

You cannot justify child abuse by using God's word. To choose to hurt your child would be contrary to the word of God and a sin.

Well they say that Jesus was the god fellow himself.
I guess the act of him killing himself was like self flagellation.
Everyone loves a little self flagellation now and then.

Yes, but the child is resurrected and basically healed (except for some scars) three days later!
