Christianity VS The world

Christianity is about total sacrifice-the world is about total self indulgence.

Christianity is total self denial-the world is about self.

Christianity is totally about a person (Jesus Christ)-the world is about ME!

Christianity is totally about eternal life-the world is about THIS life!

Christianity is totally dependance upon Jesus-the world is dependance upon NO ONE!

Christianity totally gives an inner peace-the world gives only a temporary peace!

Christianity is about total love-the world is about hate!

Feel free to contribute anything else!

Or does becoming Christian mean you no longer sin anymore?

If your answer is "Yes" you continue to sin, you even make really BAD mistakes or decisions that adversely affect other people, but now you have the ability to ask for forgiveness because of Christ's sacrifice and still get into heaven, how does that measure up against those like (tribal peoples of long ago and today) who will be judged soley on their actions and 'law of their hearts' because they never heard of Christ before.

How come Christ's death didn't give them that same leeway you enjoy to make mistakes and still get a pass into heaven?

Aren't they being held to a higher standard than you are?

I have seen references to Christians disliking people wearing crosses and other religious items as jewellery

how do you feel when people do this ?
I ask because I wear a lot of Pagan items and I never think that it may be offensive

so why do Bible-fundamentalists insist the the Blessed Virgin Mary, who is now with God in Heaven, is just a dead person, dead even to God.

are they saying that God lied when He promised eternal life to those who follow and obey Him?

Do you know which version of the bible the Mormons use?

Some people said that Joseph Smith translated the bible and messed everything up in it...so what version do we use? If you don't know...look it up, I'm sure you'll be throwing your "mormon" bible out when you realize you probably have the bible version we use.

Ok my girlfriend thinks Jews are trying to take over the world with this so called secret Kabalah sect. She says she at first thought it was nonsense to until her ex-husband who was Jewish told her it was true. She told me her ex-husband was related to this elite Kabalah sect and actually lived in Isreal with them.

I think it is all really silly and can't understand why her husband being Jewish would have anti-sentimism toward jews, but I suppose it happens.

My girlfriend has all these books about the world ending and the Jews taking over the world, I can't help but laugh at her and I call her gullible and that this all so silly. I can't believe people are allowed to publish this nonsense that only distills hate.

I really can't understand why people truly believe this? I quess I have never been very religous so I am not deep rooted in christianity and maybe that is why I just don't get it.

What if all those "Christians" that hurt you were in fact not true followers of Christ? The Jesus I know HATED those type of idiots.( Matt. 23) Again, it's been my pleasure to talk with you. I am truely sorry for all the religious idiots you have encountered in the past. I do not fight for religion, but for Christ and Him alone. Jesus, for me, is the only possible answer. There are answers to your questions, www.allaboutgod.com is a good place to start. Thanks again:) Keep learning!!!

when we die, we will all face judgement and be sent to heaven or hell, according to the bible. i am curious if god will judge us by our differences in theology that we have placed our faith in. or will he solely judge by having faith in and accepting jesus? the differences between catholics and protestants and how they approach the faith are very different. Do you think one is more correct that the other? and if so will god judge the wrong one? or do our faith in our theologies mean little, while faith in christ is what is most important?

Mine:

A Pirate walks into a bar, with a steering wheel attached to his belt buckle.

The bartender takes one look at him and says "What the hell's with the steering wheel?"

The Pirate resonds, "YARGH! I know, It drives me nuts!"

I grew up believing that there is one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. Meaning that once you are baptized no matter the age your sins will be cleansed easily as long as you seek forgiveness.

However there seems to be a group of people who believe that baptism is a religious right, or a leap of faith into their new religion (born again and such)

Leaving adult, baby baptism and quotes aside.

What does it mean to you? The right to have your sins washed away, a show of faith for your own religion or something totally different?

P.S.

I will not ridicule any honest answers, I’m just curious as to what you think it means. Everyone is welcome to answer.

I notice with joy how OJ's friends exited the court proudly brandishing their Bibles. These obviously good christians, acting on the word of the lord, will, hopefully, not be persecuted. Jesus loves OJ OKAY?

What do I do? I completely disagree with everything they stand for. I love being Christian. I like knowing when I die I will be with God in heaven. What they believe is absolutely insane. It would be similar to trying to get me to believe heaven is Planet Cybertron, and I get to spend eternity chilling with the Autobots. Now my mom wants me to take a test that is designed to tell me all the things wrong with me. There is nothing wrong with me. It just sounds like a big scam anyways. I've done some research and the audits sound like a form of brain washing. I can't bring myself to believe I can buy my way to salvation.
My second problem is my younger brother has always had problems. He so far has had the benefit of psychiatrists, but will he no longer get that help?
I am just so angry about this because I feel helpless.
By the way, I don't know if this will help with your answers, but I am 16 and my brother is 14.
What can I do?????

A couple weekends ago we had a youth conference at my church. We had teenagers from all across Nebraska there.

Towards the beginning of the service they showed this "good idea/bad idea" video. It would be like "good idea, invite your friends to church- BAD idea, invite your friends to church by bribing them with beer" and there were people acting it out. then there were a few more good/bad idea thingies with people acting them all out

One said "Good idea- go to your school's FCA (fellowship of christian athletes) meeting. BAD idea- go to your school's GSA (gay straight alliance) meeting."

and the way they said it was just really rude and MAKING FUN of homosexuals and people who agree with homosexuals.

One girl walked out. I got really angry. THAT'S how we're showing Christ's love?! It wasn't very funny to me.

My youth pastor was gone last week, but tonight at church I'm going to give him a letter saying what I thought about it. CONTINUED IN DETAILS...

the Bible said: "work for your salvation with fear and trembling", so where did those Bible-fundamentalists get the idea of 'Once saved, always saved'?.

My daughter is learning culinary arts at a high school career center. Her friend told me that my daughter said to her that they are going to do some wine tasting. Now, I know that the chef that is training them would never allow them to do anything illegal.

But, we are Mormon (which I think she told chef in the first week of school), and we don't drink alcohol. However, I know that, as a chef, she might be cooking with wines, at least in training.

One suggestion that I heard was that they taste but do not swallow. But, I don't know if even that is good or not.

And maybe I'm borrowing trouble. but, I just want some advice. Thanks.

And, please, no Mormon bashing!
