Ok my girlfriend thinks Jews are trying to take over the world with this so called secret Kabalah sect. She says she at first thought it was nonsense to until her ex-husband who was Jewish told her it was true. She told me her ex-husband was related to this elite Kabalah sect and actually lived in Isreal with them.

I think it is all really silly and can't understand why her husband being Jewish would have anti-sentimism toward jews, but I suppose it happens.

My girlfriend has all these books about the world ending and the Jews taking over the world, I can't help but laugh at her and I call her gullible and that this all so silly. I can't believe people are allowed to publish this nonsense that only distills hate.

I really can't understand why people truly believe this? I quess I have never been very religous so I am not deep rooted in christianity and maybe that is why I just don't get it.

Nonsense. Jews are in a life and death situation in the Middle East just trying to hold on to their homeland and not be driven into the sea as many Arab nations have vowed to do.

Okay, first Kabbalah is a mystic sect of Judaism and has very few adherents either in Israel or anywhere else. The books your gf has are anti-Jewish diatribes and cannot be trusted to tell the truth. And as to Yoyo's "quotes" from George Washington and Benjamin Franklin....Here's something from The Straight Dope about Franklin:

"Was Franklin antisemitic? Based on what we know now, almost certainly not. The Anti-Defamation League tells the whole story here. Briefly put, an allegation began circulating in the antisemitic press in the early 1930s that Franklin had given a speech at the Constitutional Convention in 1787 warning that Jews posed a grave danger to the United States and should be expelled. Mainstream historians are unanimous in declaring the supposed speech a fraud. No documentation exists, the sentiments expressed are at odds with Franklin's known views and actions regarding Jews, and the timing, coinciding with the rise of Nazism, is highly suspicious. Whatever failings Franklin may have had, it's doubtful antisemitism was one.
--CECIL ADAMS

And this is from Snopes.com:

Quote: [George Washington, 1779]

They work more effectively against us than the enermy's armies. They are a hundred times more dangerous to our liberties and the great cause we are engaged in. It is much to be lamented that each state, long ago has not hunted them down as pests to society and the greatest enemies we have to the happiness of America — The Jews.
STATUS: FALSE

I think you need to find another gf who isn't so hostile and bigoted.

A lot of it has to do with the fact that our religion makes us stand apart. Previous Jewish communities existed with Christian or Muslim communities but stayed Jewish. Our clothing, diet and halacha (laws) set us apart. We were easy scapegoats. We are also very into education and during the hey day of the Catholic Church we were used as bankers because Christians could not charge interest to other Christians but Jews could.
When the black plague hit Jews were affected less than other communities because we are commanded to wash out hands and because we isolated ourselves. People decided Jews caused the disease. Then Henry Ford, an amazing anti-Semite, paid for the publishing and distribution of a fake book called The Protocols of the Elders of Zion which says Jews want to take over the world and is suppose to be a type of record from one of these secret meetings. Despite being proven a hoax it was taught in schools and is still published by Aryan Nations publishing houses and some Muslim publishing houses.
Currently, "Palestine" has done a great PR job with getting people to feel sorry for the "poor Palestinians" and seeing Jewish Israeli's as the agressors in the Middle East when we are just trying to survive on a tiny patch of land in the middle of the Muslim/Arab world.
Someone who thinks this is not a very nice person and I wonder why you are with her.
Most true Jews see that whole "Hollywood" Kabbalah movement as silly and without merit.
And, sadly, there are anti-Semitic self loathing Jews. Sad but true.

You're right to be sceptical, the problem with conspiracy theories is that anyone who questions it with logic - automatically becomes "part of the conspiracy".

Perhaps the telling phrase is 'ex'- husband. He could be encouraging her to believe these theories as a way of getting back at her - or believing that he had more power over her than he actually did.

It's true that Jews do hold prominent positions in government, commerce, the arts etc, So, if there is a Jewish conspiracy, then they're not very well organised are they? - they could have easily done it by now, so what are they waiting for?

It would be very naive to believe that there aren't conspiracies and secret agreements going on - which may or may not include Jews, however, these are made by people who don't write things down or advertise themselves - so I don't see how there could be books about them.

its all true...the first and most important rules of a Jew are if you aren't Jewish then you are lesser than them...doesn't that tell your something.. they have got Jews from there secret sect taking over all the important places like America is now Jewish run and even man united is now run by someone who is connected to them..look at Afghanistan,,it was run by the northern alliance until they mass genocided 30 million Innocent people so bin laden took over and the killing stopped so that's why Jewish America and England wants the northern alliance back in power so they can mass genocide the last 6 million of them,,that's what that war is about. the Taliban are trying to stop mass genocide of all Afghanistan's and we are helping it.. kinda makes you feel sick doesn't it and explains why he killed 5000 Jewish Americans in the twin towers..it kinda doesn't come close to what we did to them first though does it. and that's why the poor get poorer and the rich Jews get richer..and they are winning but wont win as its the same old story as the Pharaohs did, and where are they now....

Because they get the idea from other people. Some people will believe anything if they hear it over and over enough. It's true that a number of networks and media outlets happen to be ethnically Jewish, but to say "the Jews" are collectively trying to run everything is ridiculous. Most of these Jews in question wouldn't know a matzoh from a saltine.

Yup, I agree with you. Probably her "ex" is some sort of nut case--but then, why would your gf listen to her ex and believe anything he says?

Also--the above posters on the Franklin "prophecy", Washington's "statement", etc., are merely repeating old lies; neither Washington nor Franklin ever said anything of the kind--however, the posts do serve to point out how easy it is to be anti-Semitic.

lol. people have been accusing jews of trying to take over the world with some global conspiracy ever since the middle ages. but saying that we are trying to do it through the medium of kabbalah - now there's an amusing twist to the story. at least they've finally come up with something new, eh?

The Jews are trying to take over the world!? Someone should do something....like gather them somewhere, and let them wait until we come up with some kind of solution...

Seriously, they allowed to say and publish whatever absurd crap they want: freedom of speech. Unfortunately, some people take other people's obscene ramblings to heart, and begin to adopt their beliefs despite what the reality actually is. Insanity is contagious.

Jews have been persecuted for centuries.

Probably will continue to be for years to come.

Also, there are a lot of smart or sucessful Jews in the Media and in Hollywood which I would assume generates some of this Joomsday Rhetoric.
