be, or have been?

He was crucified once, according to the Bible. I think no one should be shocked that he has more than likely been crucified again, or is about to be.

I hear from many Christians that he will be coming down on a soft white cloud that feels just like Charmin but I doubt even Jesus would be that obvious. Acts 1:12 reads "This Jesus, who has been taken away from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go to heaven." In other words, you aren't going to know exactly how, because you're not him and you've never been to heaven.

And if you recognize the Second Coming as symbolic as many mainstream Christians do, you should certainly understand my inquiry and view it not as opposition but as a cry for peace. For anyone and everyone might be Jesus.

Was it God's way of telling people to move away from organised religions, pre-made answers, hate, war and prejudice?

Many people say you can't have good without evil, and most just stop right there, pick a side, and live their lives, but...

Are good and evil equal 50-50? Or is the ratio different in reality, thus disregarding and ruling out religion?

If this ratio stands, then that means that evil is just as legitimate, great, and equal as GOOD. That God and the Devil are equals. right?

So then, is being(existing) a mass murderer as legitimate as a being as a holy man? If the Devil is responsible for humans to behave badly, is it God who equally has to "actively" keep us on the right track (one of their "functions" to explain their existance)?

So the the excuse "we're only human", is it true? Do we blame the devil? Should we be blamed for the devil making us do things? Can a Hitler, Osama bin Laden, or even Geoge Bush be held responsible for their actions because they're "only human"?

Let me get this straight:

1) There is an invisible, intangible, undefinable entity of astronomical proportions,

2) which created the cosmos specifically with me in mind,

3) and has plans for me that I cannot even begin to imagine,

4) because it loves me as only a superbeing can,

5) AND if I fail to acknowledge this entity then I am doomed to infinite torture after I'm dead?

Have I got that right?

I did not initially understand many facets of the faith I was raised in. Nevertheless, I occasionally engaged in debate with others regarding various points of Christianity. One person in particular explained a basis for one tenet of his faith and in so doing suddenly caused me to understand my own much better. It was a pivotal point in my walk.

What was your experience?

why weren't all humans on earth at that time his "special, chosen people?"

Whatever you want to call it, special, chosen, elected, whatever, let's keep semantics out: Israel was the sole place where god revealed himself to mankind for all human history (4000 years according to the bible) until Christianity was spread in the Roman Empire.

why was everyone else floundering around with false religions in which, for all they could figure, the sun was god? Or the Moon? or that each one of those kinds of things were gods?

In the bible, many times it talks about how god gave jews victory in battle, slaying their territorial neighbors. Because all those people were all sinfull and deserved it? Hard to believe. But then again, every single citizen in the two CITIES of sodom and gommorah was so evil that they deserved death, so maybe it IS possible. lol

"When I was a child I spoke as a child I understood as a child I thought as a child; but when I became a man I put away childish things." I Cor. xiii. 11.

I think this quote sums up religion in general perfectly. Any thoughts?

Religions are groups of people united by their beliefs. Atheists are a group of people united by their disbelief…at least that what it appears like in this forum. Atheists can be and frequently are persecuted for choosing not to follow the doctrine of whatever the dominant belief system is in their communities. This scenario can benefit a religious group by making the followers more united (see Mormonism), can it benefit atheism?

Can't you feel His love? Why do you trust yourself or other men for your eternal destiny?

Jeremiah 9:23-24
King James Version

23Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:

24But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.

"Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones."
~ Marcus Aurelius
