Bernhard Lohse says in A Short History of Christian Doctrine: "As far as the New Testament is concerned, one does not find in it an actual doctrine of the Trinity."
The New International Dictionary of New Testament Theology similarly states: "The N[ew] T[estament] does not contain the developed doctrine of the Trinity. 'The Bible lacks the express declaration that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are of equal essence' [said Protestant theologian Karl Barth]."
Yale University professor E. Washburn Hopkins affirmed: "To Jesus and Paul the doctrine of the trinity was apparently unknown; . . . they say nothing about it."—Origin and Evolution of Religion.
Historian Arthur Weigall notes: "Jesus Christ never mentioned such a phenomenon, and nowhere in the New Testament does the word 'Trinity' appear. The idea was only adopted by the Church three hundred years after the death of our Lord."—The Paganism in Our Christianity.
Primitive Christianity did not have an explicit doctrine

Im not here to Offend anyone, Please understand.

In Many true cases people have moved into a house and it seems as if the house is haunted and it freightens the people, they see strange things and don't know why.

In one case, there was this Man and woman who lived in this house, the Woman was Witch and the man wasn't. She wasn't an evil witch but a good person, The man had two children (boys) by another woman who became a Christian and one night the Children spent the night with their Father and while the children were in bed, they saw what they described as really scary faces on the ceiling, the oldest of the two started to pray from what he remembered how to and the faces went away. Turns out that this was due to the witch in the house. she didn't cast a spell on the kids but she invited evil spirits in by her life style. The lady was a good witch but in general was a witch, thus inviting in evil spirits.

Whats your opinion on this?

My mum's a die hard christian while I'm a free thinker. Religions are fine with me as long as they don't come preaching that their god is good and how I should seek enlightenment from.

What shall I do? When I say it's going overboard she threatens to hit me!

If you even think this question might apply to you then why do you not grant the same respect to all other faith-founded enterprises (what you likely call cults)?

Let me try to clarify definitions ...
When I'm sitting on the side of the road in a car and can't go anywhere because the gas tank is empty, that is a FACT, recognizable by ANYONE anywhere in the world .... I don't have to have FAITH in it, I know it to be true

Compared to something so basic and obvious, why would FAITH merit "respect" by anyone?

She's obviously a brilliant and successful attorney who has the ability to think analytically. Does that make you question whether Scientologists are really brainwashed or less intelligent?

If it makes sense to her and she's someone who's good about seperating fact from fiction, does that make you think that maybe Scientology isn't as ridiculous as it's made out to be by the media, anti-religious bigots on the internet and the psycho-pharma industry which is behind many of the attacks?

This is a serious question, even though by the title it may not seem as if so.
I am a Muslim, and I have a problem doing something which I know is forbidden for me to do. Masturbation is my problem. Now I really don't give a rats hair how much people enjoy doing it, or how "healthy" it really is. I do not care where you do it, how you do it, why you do it, or why you think I should do it. It's against my religion and thats enough for me to decide to stop, so it isn't "perfectly normal" for me anyways. Notice I'm a human alien and what not. By the way, just tell me what I can do to stop?!
I am always making excuses and saying oh it isn't forbidden, when deep down in my heart I know it is forbidden and thats theres no excuse for me to do it, when the Prophet Saaws told us not to! Please help me out to stop. I sincerely need a Muslims answer.
Thanks and Peace. Salam.

Ergo, how is "trolling" even possible in R&S specifically -- in a completely HYPOTHETICAL category??????

2007-08-24 18:40:27 · 26 answers · asked by Tragic Tapas 2

Since R&S is apparently for Religious people's posts only, that must mean the 'Cats' section is for cats' posts only. But unfortunately, all these pesky humans are posting there.

Maybe these sections describe the TOPIC of the questions, not a description of the askers.

So, atheists, with their differing views on religion, should have no trouble posting in this section. However, they are challenged multiple times a day for simply having a differing opinion on the topic being discussed.

Comments? Thoughts? Rebuttals?

serious question.

I personally didn't lose my virginity until really late, like 22, and felt really miserable/depressed through my teen years for being so sexless, while all my friends were getting it regularly.

Now my only son is 15, he knows about sex, and I'm sure he wants it as much as I did at his age. Would it be wrong for me to try to give him suggestions on how to pick up women. I'm not religous so I don't do the whole "save it till' marriage" crap.

I mean teach him practical things. How to suggest drinking to girls, how to mix drinks so they will get chicks drunk, which women to go after, safe sex practices, leting him have women alone in the house, supplying him with porn to study, lying to women ("I love you", etc.). Just you know, the basic strategy he'll need. I also have some books on picking up women I can read him as bedtime stories.....you get the point.

Would this make me a bad father? Or simply be something he'll thank me for when he is older?

Thanks

I have been going through times of testing and I know we all do.
My problem is that I tend to focus on the needs I have now and worry and stress over them when everytime in the past God has ALWAYS been faithful to provide.
What are godly ways to not fret so much and what are realistic godly ways to just be in the now?
Is it normal to feel anxoius at times even though I love the Lord?

I am a firm believer in only one True God, and I find peace in Him. But I have also started to study meditation and Feng Shui, and even though these are not changing my views on my faith, is it wrong to participate in this stuff? I find that meditation and Feng Shui help me stay relaxed and peaceful

They should be fairly easy to make. Just need bread, a stencil and a blow torch.
Should I expand and do other faces? Paris Hilton? Larry King? Mohammad?

The Gospel Jesus preached is called the "Kingdom Gospel," so people do recognize that there is a difference between these two Gospels.

But why did the Original Kingdom Gospel come in second place with respect to that honored title of the "Gospel of Jesus Christ?"

For those of you who believe in saints what that entails is that when a person dies who everyone thinks will become a saint... their body supposedly does not decompose and rot like everyone else. Supposedly their body has different characteristics and the way i understand the procedure is that when someone dies like mother teresa they wait a while and then dig up the body to see if it passes the test. the trouble is as with all religious beliefs that there are no witnesses around to verify the results of this

Hey guys, I know this is in the wrong category, but we are the only ones alive at night so here goes. My question is. Why is the Mexican government so quiet in this huge problem, but also why isnt the US government holding the Mexican government to task? They seem perfectIy happy letting the US taxpayers support their people who are escaping a government who barely provides clean running water to alot of Mexican communities. Do we trade something huge with Mexico, like air? Why arent they talking? I did hear tonight that finally the mexican government is talking and its grumbling because the feds want state policing agencies to start deporting illegal criminals back to Mexico. Im not really knowledgeable about the politics in Mexico, but can any shed some light on how they are so quiet and the US government has no problem with this?
