Luke 10:29-37 answers your question.
29 But, wanting to prove himself righteous, the man said to Jesus: “Who really is my neighbor?” 30 In reply Jesus said: “A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jer′i·cho and fell among robbers, who both stripped him and inflicted blows, and went off, leaving him half-dead. 31 Now, by coincidence, a certain priest was going down over that road, but, when he saw him, he went by on the opposite side. 32 Likewise, a Levite also, when he got down to the place and saw him, went by on the opposite side. 33 But a certain Sa·mar′i·tan traveling the road came upon him and, at seeing him, he was moved with pity. 34 So he approached him and bound up his wounds, pouring oil and wine upon them. Then he mounted him upon his own beast and brought him to an inn and took care of him. 35 And the next day he took out two de·nar′i·i, gave them to the innkeeper, and said, ‘Take care of him, and whatever you spend besides this, I will repay you when I come back here.’ 36 Who of these three seems to you to have made himself neighbor to the man that fell among the robbers?” 37 He said: “The one that acted mercifully toward him.” Jesus then said to him: “Go your way and be doing the same yourself.”

Jesus was a liberal, not a conservative..actually, moreover, Jesus was a communist. I'm absolutely certain he would not have voted for George W. Bush. On the flip side, let's face it, most of the poor inner-city folk who get liberals elected have abysmal moral fiber and those people are catered to.
However Government shouldn't try to 'instill' or promote a certain type of morality, it shouldn't even look at morality--it should look at crime, property rights, and all of that. So I'm torn between Liberal and Conservative because of Christianity. I believe in Free Trade, and all of that--so I'm a fiscal conservative, but I also believe in less state control and more centralized government.
On the morality issue, I think everybody should read Rand, Lao Tzu, the Bible, and Friedrich Nietzsche and find their own morality.
So, Jesus said to love all your neighbors, the Bible said to throw stones at neighbors that were sinful, and the Christian Right is pretty old-testament in that regard, I'd say.

Clearly Jesus would be scorned by the "religious" right of he were walking among us today. Under this administration, Jesus could concevably be locked up tortured.
These yahoos would label most of the founding fathers as renegades, wiretap or censor Poor Richard, and try to make the presidency a throne with a king - the very thing we fought to be free of...I mean Nixon was liberal compared with the buffoons on Capitol Hill today.

shall we virtually truthfully relate this to the stable Samaritan interior the Bible. The Samaritans interior the Bible weren't well-known with the Jews, yet this Samaritan, understanding how the only he stumbled on injury replaced right into a man or woman who did no longer like him, he nonetheless took the injured guy to a place the place he must be helped medically and paid the bill for him additionally. this is the occasion Jesus is giving us in reciting this. Jesus is saying, no rely how plenty somebody hates you or is unkind or persecutes you or is your enemy, in case you detect this one in hassle and you will help, accomplish that. Do despite the fact which you will for the only which is suffering in this international, no rely what the cost. yet another element of loving your neighbour as your self is doing each little thing you are able to to maintain the peace and get alongside with those around you which of them includes neighbours, pals, etc. while they do no longer decrease their timber down and that they overhang your patch, circulate the extra mile and decrease them for the neighbour. in case you notice they have forgotten to place the rubbish bin out, positioned it out for them. Shovel their snow in the event that they're elderly, supply to decrease their backyard in the event that they're unwell, take a great pie over to a man or woman who's housebound, or supply to stroll the dogs or do their procuring. those are issues you elect completed for you, so do them for others while they have want.

It means everyone. Janis Joplin said it at Woodstock, your neighbor is the person on the left and the person on the right so anywhere you go are your neighbors. Jesus also says pray for your enemies.

Never saw anywhere in the bible where God stated he was either Republican or Democrat, hmmm.
But, my guess would be, according to the way people are now-a-days, love who you want and the heck with the rest, they are only there to get you what you want.
Of course I don't actually feel that way, but there are a lot of folks who do.....

All of them. That includes the conservatives, with whom I, as a liberal Christian, often strongly disagree.
