I love the concept of the Catholic church as it was in early times, and would love to attend a simple and humble Catholic church.

I can understand the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 6th, & 7th ending above. I'm not familar with Pompadios. And, I guess Awoman is what a female says instead of Amen (as she isn't one of the men or guys).

I've heard stories of people who are getting heart-attacks thinking that they are in Hell. They literally see fire and demons yet are still partially in the Earth Realm. Do you know anyone that has seen parts of the afterlife while getting close to death?

I was just watching the movie Singles Ward and when the guys tell his friends that he's going to Boise, Idaho the friends are like dissapointed or something... like they feel sorry for him. And then when he goes to the store and tells the lady that he's going to a mission and the lady asks where and he says Boise the lady's reaction was like weeeeird!

Why is this? does that mission have something in special?
Am I missing something? :P

Now before all you religious people go nuts, hear me out. What I am asking is if you would really want to go to Heaven when you realize that you'll likely be pretty lonley. I mean, think about it. Plenty of people are NOT going to go there, they are going to be in Hell or Limbo. And, while considering this, these people who are not there will likely be your friends and family.

Therefore, if you go to Heaven and most of your friends and family do not, how would you feel knowing that they are in Hell or Limbo and suffering? One can just write, 'yes, I want to go to Heaven,' but does one consider the what may or may not be waiting for them there? You could be at peace yet most of the people you know will not be. So, now answer the question...

If you are a believer, what attracts you to God?

I continue to be amazed at the lengths to which creationists will go to illustrate that there is scientific evidence to disprove evolution and to prove God put it all together in 6 days. From Dr. Dino turned Felon, to Henry Morris to ridiculous websites (too many to name), believers are desperately trying to catch up with and "one up" science.

Name for me a SINGLE technological / medical invention based on the so called "science" of creationism?

And consider my question. Do any of you understand you are not only devaluing Christianity but, by insisting that Biblical verse will prevail over science, driving away reasonable and intelligent people from your churches?

Is that your intent? And what exactly is your insecurity about evolutionary theory. Is it too humiliating to admit you're wrong, don't you want your children to be educated?

After you've repented for your sins and you are forgiven, how do you shake the guilt of your sins that are within yourself?? I feel like I'm insulting Jesus when I ask for forgiveness but still feel terrible for days about a specific sin. I know I should trust that I am forgiven when I truely mean my repentance but how do I shake the guilt??

I heard sum1 say women shouldn't recite Quran in public becuz her voice is awrah. WTF?!! And they sumhow use this next verse to justify their ruling:

33:32 "O wives of the Prophet! You are not like any other women. If you keep your duty (to Allâh), then be not soft in speech, lest he in whose heart is a disease (of hypocrisy, or evil desire for adultery, etc.) should be moved with desire, but speak in an honourable manner."

WOW! First off, God says this is for the wives ONLY; and they are DIFFERENT from all other women. Second, this "soft speech" is not in reference to relaying the Holy message of Islam but rather using a seductive voice to attract men.

How can Muslims, with any ounce of moral, prevent (or discourage..of ALL THINGS) women from reciting the holy Quran for all to hear??

Women talk at school, work, lectures, singing...and yet...sum "scholars" have the nerve to discourage free reign of God's word for fear of "fitnah"

Astughfirallah I don't know what to say.

- and no matter which path they follow - they are insistent that it is the one true way.

Here's my question - For those with Faith that is unshakable, can you imagine another person of a different path whose Faith - through experience, revelation and prayer is equal to yours?

I just consider them to be, well, gay. As far as I am concerned, there isn't anything wrong with a person's sexual preference. If a guy would rather make out with other guys instead of girls, then fine, whatever. I don't exactly think being a homosexual is normal, or fine, but it shouldn't matter if people want to be with the same or opposite sex. I don't see why religion has to intervene at all. It interferes with enough of life as it is.

My brother thought he was a homosapien for a long time. Then one night he had a dream and Jesus told him that he should be married to a woman. The next day he went out and married the first Walmart cashier he met.
They are happily married now!
But sometimes I wonder why he is so interested in highway rest areas when we go on road trips.

......can't people of different religions get along? Seems to me it should be 1 "God", 1"Religion". What gives?

Or is it only because there is one "God" but people have chosen different paths(religions) to get to Him/Her/It?

Sounds like an awfully weird concept to me.........

I was just wondering...how long is a Catholic Mass? Is it perhaps 2 hours? The reason i am asking is because i am thinking of attending one, but want to have some idea of how long it would be: i am used to Protestant Church services being 2-3 hours long.

Of course, service times may vary, in which case, how long is your Mass usually?

Please only Catholics (or others who would know) answer this question. I am just looking for a quick guesstimate. Thank you!
