... don't you agree that there is life after death after reading that? Don't you think it is possible to make contact with spirits?

It is definitely possible to communicate with spirits. I've known people I trust who have said that a dead relative returned to comfort them, and I have seen them myself; though I have not communicated with them.

The 3 disciples saw the actual heavenly bodies of Moses and Elijah. Their bodies were transformed when they went to heaven just like Jesus' body was at the transfiguration and at his Resurrection. We will get the same kind of bodies when we die and go to heaven or are raptured at the second coming. I don't know if you want to call them spirits or transfigured saints. Of course there is life after death and yes spirits or other dead people have been contacted also in the Bible . For instance when Saul used a witch to call up Samuel in 1 Samuel 28: 7-20 But this calling of spirits is strictly forbidden in the scriptures along with any kind of astrology, witchcraft soothsaying, fortune telling and etc. . In fact Saul was punished for using a witch or as the KJV describes her " a woman with a familiar spirit" In the the story in 1 Samuel 28 the woman is actually surprised to see Samuel come up which shows that she was probably a fake or had never really seen someone come back. Nevertheless calling up spirits is sin and you should avoid the practice. Cap'n Arlo

Moses and Elijah were the two greatest prophets in the OT.

Moses represents the law, or the old covenand. He wrote the Pentateuch, and he predicted the coming of a great prophet in Deuteronomy 18.

Elijah represents the prophets who foretold the coming of the Messiah in Malachi 4.

Moses' and ELijah's presence with Jesus confirmed Jesus' mission: to fulfill God's law and the words of God's prophets.

With Moses and Elijah appearing with Jesus, it was God's doing, so that Peter, James and John would then believe that what Jesus was doing was true. That vision was a glimpse of the true glory of the King. This was a special revelation of Jesus' divinity to them, and it was God's divine affirmation of everything Jesus had done and was about to do.

So, to answer your question about life after death? Most definately, up in Heaven with my Lord.

As to the making contact with spirits, I don't think that this passage really reflects this.

Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10 states: “As for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all. In the grave the dead are completely inactive, without movement, sensation, or thought of any kind. They are in what can be likened to a deep sleep. The Bible thus makes it clear that God does not take our dead loved ones to be with him in heaven. The effects of death have left them lifeless in the grave.

Soon after receiving word of Lazarus’ death, Jesus said: “Lazarus our friend has gone to rest, but I am journeying there to awaken him from sleep.” The disciples assumed that if Lazarus was merely resting, he would get better. So Jesus said plainly: “Lazarus has died.” (John 11:11-14) Obviously, Jesus understood death to be like sleep. While death may be difficult for us to comprehend, we do understand sleep. During a good night’s rest, we are unaware of the passage of time and what is going on around us because we are in a state of temporary unconsciousness. This is exactly how the Bible explains the condition of the dead. Ecclesiastes 9:5 states: “As for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all.”

Jesus also compared death to a sleep because people can be awakened from death, thanks to the power of God.

Some critics have endeavored to class the transfiguration as simply a dream. However, Peter, James, and John would not logically all have had exactly the same dream. Jesus himself called what took place a “vision” (Mt 17:9), but not a mere illusion. Christ was actually there, though Moses and Elijah, who were dead, were not literally present. They were represented in vision. The Greek word used for “vision” at Matthew 17:9 is ho′ra·ma, also rendered “sight.”

Life after death? Yes.

Contacting spirits? No. Remember it was Jesus and only Jesus who spoke with Moses and Elijah. Peter, James and John were witness only because Jesus was there.

Any attempt to connect with spirits can only open the door to demons.

The King (I think Saul) had Samuel the prophet conjured up in the Bible. So, yes, it is possible. Samuel also was angry for having been called on. Elijah and Moses did talk with Jesus on the Mount, again, after life. Jesus tells us all over the New Testament of the afterlife, eternal life. EVERYONE has a eternal life, it is just a matter of where you make the choice to spend it. There are two choices, eternally with God, or eternally n the fiery pit where Satan will go as well. The choice is yours, if you do not pick with God, you automatically pick the other.

definite, i think that Enoch became translated actual and so became Elijah. Their our bodies are in heaven. My place on that is that they does no longer could desire to be resurrected on the grounds that their our bodies are already glorified and delivered up into the dominion. Moses won't could desire to be reunited along with his physique for this became already in Matthew 27: fifty two. At this 2d, all 3 of the above are in Heaven. each and all the previous patriachs have been released from " the bosson of Abraham" after the dying and resurrrection of Jesus. bear in mind Matthew 27: fifty two-fifty two how the previously deceased whilst into the Holy city, 40 days and then they have been taken up with glorified our bodies and souls into Heaven.

What most people would say, "Those are deceiving spirit."
But since it's in the Bible, now they have another excuse.

God can send many spirits, either guides, angels....some angels appear as shafts of light, come to help and guide. other spirits people you know are allow to come and look over you or to let you know that they are okay, due to many prayers of concern. When I was a boy my grandfather would come and look over us. All my life always felt many different spirits around me, that's why I always thought it was normal, that everyone felt these things, until I done my survey three years ago when it got stronger.

The spirits of Godly people (those in Heaven) will NOT disobey God to make contact with us, however the spirit that do satan's bidding contact people all the time...they are called fortune tellers and those spirits that are being contacted are familiar spirits that know all the stuff that has happened in the PAST. Only God knows the future and you'll notice that in this passage that you quoted it says that they 'SAW' them they didn't talk to them, they only talked to Jesus!

Absolutely! Spirits live on forever after death and they can get around better than we can. They can visit us here on earth again, just not in the physical.

Matthew
Chapter 17

1 After six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain by themselves.

2 And he was transfigured before them; his face shone like the sun and his clothes became white as light.

3 And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, conversing with him.

It says that they appeared, but, the bible is fiction anyways.
