The one I most cherish is "Just As I Am." It truly speaks to me through the lyrics and makes me realize, how truly blessed I am. A provision, made for all! His redemptive love!

This text requires us to know the reason of our faith and practice, that our piety may not be superstition, but the result of intelligent conviction, arising from thorough investigation. (Charles Finney)

Agree or disagree... if you agree, have you studied what you believe; if not, how are you comfortable in your ignorance?

it is absurd to liken the faith of theists to the faith of atheistic scientists

science is advanced by developing theories and testing those theories rigorously and repeatedly until such time that the theory provides an extremely accurate prediction of behaviour in the universe. and peer review ensures that no hoodwinking slips through the net

it is ludicrous to suggest that theistic belief is subjected to such rigorous scrutiny. on the contrary, constructive scrutiny of religious beliefs is discouraged by religious leaders

why? what do they have to lose? if theyre so sure of their beliefs, they should be welcoming all attempts to investigate their beliefs

because then they'd be shown to be right after all, wouldnt they?

hmmm...

This is in response to a rude question by a sexist that decided women aren't equal to men. Women are equal in every way-- we aren't lesser than men at all just because we don't have an extra flap of flesh between our legs. I won't "submit" to a man as my body is my own and not my man's...not to mention, if I have something to teach, I should be able to teach it to whoever will listen. My man has his body and can do whatever he wants, and so can I.

I'm Agnostic-- everyone is equal in my eyes. Gender doesn't matter, deeds do.

Let this man know he's not better than you ladies! Sound off!

I do believe in the Lord very much so, but I myself have a huge problem with the Bible, and the Hell thing, I dont see a loving God sending good people to Hell, and letting a child murderer and rapist in just because they asked for forgiveness on their death bed. but put a man who cared a lot for children, died for them or somebody else into hell just because they had sex outside of marriage or something. whats your biggest problem?

a Witness at my door commented on my Genocide Intervention Network bumpersticker. I asked why the "service" they do is door to door, when Darfur needs help. She have me an article about Rwanda, and how JWs helped, yada yada yada.... But what about now? Present Day GENOCIDE? are they doing anything on the front lines?

Knowing how we interpret things and how information can get misread, mistranslated, purposely mistranslated etc. etc. and if s/he wants us to believe in a God / Religion why is there no direct absolute sign or continuing sign - how can we take the word of people who lived so long ago?

A simple game of Chinese Whispers proves to me that we cannot and should not believe / take the words of others from such a long time ago as truth.

A God could not expect us to believe in a 'correct' Religion by following the words of other people - ask two people to describe a situation they both just experienced and they will remember and say different things - this is why witnesses spoken to by police are often unreliable as the same people who witnessed something will say different things and often not in an attempt to tell lies.

To me the fact that more than one religion exists proves there is no God.

Why would God, Knowing full well what Adam would do, put the Tree of Knowledge in the garden AND tell him not to eat it. He knew they would eat it. What was the point of the tree being there? This is one reason I have a hard time with Christianity. God sounds like the Great Experimenter not the Loving Father

I was sitting quietly at a table, reading my Bible, seeking God, when 2 young women approached me - Mormons. I told them what I was doing, which I'm sure they read as a great opportunity... I don't know enough to have engaged them fully in the parts I disagree with, but after the left, I realized that their entire focus was to convince me that Joseph Smith was a prophet and their extra book is real.

So, where is Jesus in all this? What do Mormons think is the central most important thing in life? What was I supposed to get our of their "witnessing" to me?

Creation scientist Em Adjineri (say it out loud) has recently returned from a short excursion studying smurfs in the wild. She has concluded that there is no organism from which the smurf species could possibly have evolved.

Smurfs are small blue creatures that look somewhat like humans and live in mushroom houses. They have a complex social life and a language capable of expressing novel ideas (the mark of a "true" language).

Smurfs' intellectual capacity far exceed that of their closest genetic relatives, suggesting extremely rapid evolution. Additionally, no transitional smurf fossils have ever been found, meaning that smurfs simply "popped" into existence.

This proved that God created smurfs so that children would have something to entertain them on Saturday mornings, allowing their parents to sleep in after a long night of copulation.

Take that, Gargamelutionists!

Women should listen and learn quietly and humbly. I never let women teach men or lord it over them. Let them be silent in your church meeting. Why?

Because God made Adam firct, and afterwards he made Eve. And it was not Adam who was fooled by Satan, but Eve, and sin was the result. So God sent pain and suffering to women when their children are born, but he will save their souls if they trust in him, living, quiet, good and loving lives.

Religion does not require education - only obedience.
Education does not require religion - only an inquisitive mind.

Do you prefer to be obedient or inquisitive?

Is it obedience or inquisitiveness that advances the human race?

I see it every day in this section. Not only the heathens and satan worshippers but women claiming to be Christians (not to name any names) are actually Jezebels in disguise. They lead good men away from the word of GOD.

My Christian brothers: what can we do to fight against such temptation?

My Christian sisters: do you hold yourself to a high standard of purity and modesty as is instructed by the LORD?
