Knowing how we interpret things and how information can get misread, mistranslated, purposely mistranslated etc. etc. and if s/he wants us to believe in a God / Religion why is there no direct absolute sign or continuing sign - how can we take the word of people who lived so long ago?
A simple game of Chinese Whispers proves to me that we cannot and should not believe / take the words of others from such a long time ago as truth.
A God could not expect us to believe in a 'correct' Religion by following the words of other people - ask two people to describe a situation they both just experienced and they will remember and say different things - this is why witnesses spoken to by police are often unreliable as the same people who witnessed something will say different things and often not in an attempt to tell lies.
To me the fact that more than one religion exists proves there is no God.

Kenshin: See to me I don’t understand the argument that it is our interpretation that may be incorrect, because what are we interpreting incorrectly in the first place – where did the first correct interpretation appear for it to be incorrectly interpreted?
If God decided to communicate with us why not communicate with everyone and not just one person? Again back to how if God understands our nature s/he should know we need absolute proof for everyone to believe.
S P: I used that as a means of getting my point across but since you brought it up where do I need to do this research?
Memory: I like your answer; it does make some sense to me if a God existed.
Deslok of Gammalon: If a maths problem was solved in 1000AD and everyone thought the world was flat in 1000AD do you still believe the world is flat today? No? Why? Because we can prove it so TODAY…from evidence that can be obtained TODAY…

D2T: I appreciate your beliefs. I mean no disrespect but you are only further proving my point to me. How can you believe these words are true when someone you don’t even know wrote them?
Thanks for all the answers.
I do hope no-one was offended - it was not my intention.

To me it proves otherwise, because it would be the same God except branching out to different people and cultures, conforming to their way of life, giving them equal opportunity to learn how God wants us to live but in different ways and to eventually be rewarded after this life for good behavior and such...which is usually what stems from religions.

The fact that there is more than one religion only proves there is sinful nature. Who made the choice to sin? It is not Chinese Whispers, degrading after every generation is told the tale. It is the Holy Written word of God. God did not allow it to be corrupted. The Holy Book has no contradictions, all other interpretations do. NIV is a trusted translation and inspires the Holy Spirit. There is a God. One day we will all be believers. It just depends on who is standing proud before the throne, and who is shaking with hate and fear in the dark, where there will be weeping, and gnashing of teeth.

Examples of Heaven or hell in any Bible or faith are centered on what persons had been informed or witnessed in visions. At that point they used what they knew because the worst factor possible, guy has consistently feared hearth and what it would do. There had been no burn models or dermis graphs so that you walked round watching like a monster again then. And an UFO within the sky would handiest be defined as a flying chariot on the grounds that that's all they knew again then.

All you poor mislead children on this forum. You lack experience of life and knowledge, yet think you know everything. You know precious little. Your argument also shows little credibility. If you say you can't take the words of people who lived 2000 yrs ago, I guess you don't believe in history either or mathematics or literature or physics or chemistry etc. All these things were observed and recorded long ago, we have added what we've learned from our forefathers. The writers of the Bible recorded what they observed and asked God for clarification. These things you take for truth are all written long ago. Science, language, mathematics, literature, and philosophy.
Your logic is flawed and pitiful child. Get the wax out of your ears and listen to what is around you. And more than anything else grow up!!!

Good point. The four Gospels do give different accounts of Jesus' genealogy, encounters with people he heals, the last supper, his arrest, crucifixion, resurrection and parting words to his disciples.
So we cannot consider any other these eye witnesses too credible. Yet the Gospels do agree on the teachings of Jesus, generally. It is strange that even early Christians considered the four Gospels consistent enough to be credible. It's as if they came from different authors from different times, they may have been written before the "time of Jesus" to begin with.

God and his Son Jesus exist. If you believe there is evil in the world and i think you do, then there is good. Or else there is nothing to compare it to so then it would not be evil. God always said there was an anti to him. So yes there are other religions but this does not disprove there is a god. The other religions are the anit-gods or anti-christ in his words.

It's a good thought however, for EVERYTHING that God does, satan has a counterfeit. Hence the different religions. And you are right about not taking someone else's word for it. You need to study it for yourself and ask God to show Himself to you. It says that there is only one area that we are to test God in and that is our finances. Try it for a month and prove God wrong (if you think you can)

most cultures have their own religion. most religions are extremely similar with small variances. way back we all started with the same god, but over time people have changed religion to fit their own needs. whether you believe in Jesus or Allah, the message is the same. you cant believe everything you see or read, but, if you read biblical stories like the story of lazerus, egyptions have the same story, and so do the chinese. this is just one example therre are plenty. there is a god but he just has a hundred different names.

The idea that one needs to "believe" in God because that pleases God, assures eternal life, etc., is one of the greatest "sell" jobs in history. I am constantly amazed that otherwise intelligent, discerning, and canny people will fall headlong into this mythology and never work their way out.
It is simple self interest, of course, covered layer upon layer with immortal "truths." No more fear of dying, no more questioning what the meaning of life is, never feeling that you are alone.
But it is not living in reality either, and for that, it is not to be admired.
