This is in response to a rude question by a sexist that decided women aren't equal to men. Women are equal in every way-- we aren't lesser than men at all just because we don't have an extra flap of flesh between our legs. I won't "submit" to a man as my body is my own and not my man's...not to mention, if I have something to teach, I should be able to teach it to whoever will listen. My man has his body and can do whatever he wants, and so can I.
I'm Agnostic-- everyone is equal in my eyes. Gender doesn't matter, deeds do.
Let this man know he's not better than you ladies! Sound off!

Ezekial-- Repent? I don't believe in God, who would I repent to? Wanting equality isn't a sin. Do I say sorry to Mother Nature?

p_l_gray-- First, this is just a response to a man saying women are low and evil and I worded it the way he did. It's satire. Second, I have read the Bible.

Noncrazed-- you are lucky. I hope more women find men like your man.
Again guys-- this is just a response and I worded the question like the mad who asked did. I'm not generalizing or anything, thanks. It's called "making a point". Yeesh.

I am actually married to a Christian but am not a Christian myself. I was, many years ago.
My husband does not treat me the way that is currently being promoted here. Nor does he follow Paul's teachings. I don't think he willfully disregards Paul but instead he follows what he knows to be right.
The first day I met him, he told me that I would always walk in front of him or beside - but never behind. I was his equal and at times his better half. He believes that women should be honored. He opens my car door for me when I get in and out (something I had to train myself to get used to) not because he thinks I'm lesser or weaker but because he is honoring me - his is providing himself as a service.
He does not believe that women were lessers from creation or from the fall. He believes we are equals and our lives are to be lived in equality in every way.
He does have some interesting ideas as to what Paul was actually talking about in his letters from a historical prespective - and it's not about women as lessers. I have never asked him about the passage that states that men give glory to G-d but women only give glory to man. I know he would rather I give glory to G-d then any to himself. That is just how he is.
He also believes that a lot of people - especially men - misconstrue Paul's passages as men dominating women because of insecurity. That men are insecure in their roles and need to force women to be their servants to be powerful.
I am very lucky to have someone like him - who loved me for who I was despite that fact I was a Pagan when I met him. Both of us endured slander, threats and horrible speeches from 'friends' and pastors who proclaimed that he was sinning by being with me and I would destroy his faith. His faith is still strong.
There are a lot of Christian men, quietly living their lives, who are like my husband. They believe that women are to be honored and cherished, not pushed under their feet. It is a shame we do not hear from them more often - that the most vocal are those that forget that G-d made both man and woman as halves of a whole.

I do not care if I am or now not. Equal and the identical don't seem to be the identical factor. Women are being handled in a different way, identical to blacks vs. whites. If there were a lady president as an alternative of a black president this 12 months, it might were made a tremendous deal too. Which I suppose is variety of unhappy. We have to receive that each person is a individual and that is all that issues. Saying, "Oh appear, Obama's a black president" is variety of treating him like he is simply one other black, and that he is no bigger than a white. That's what we are announcing. It's like blacks are animals to us, in a twisted manner. "Oh, appear what blacks can do now! They can play baseball and do that, wow permit's inform the arena!" Truly, I suppose each person is their possess individual and that we are all human. Doesn't subject what race, faith or some thing we're! So stop making this type of tremendous deal over Obama and permit him have a few peace and quiet. He's only a guy, he isn't a incredible-hero. And nor is any individual else, lady or guy, black or white, little one or grownup. We're all EQUAL beneath, however now not the SAME. Because all of us get handled in a different way. If you are a lady on a boy's staff, and also you do a well process, you get handled like you are the first-rate at the staff. If you are black and also you cross to a white university and you are smarter than each person else, they name you a genius. It's it sounds as if going towards racism, however it is particularly racism beneath. So, America is being racist via attempting to not be racist. Twisted, is not it?

Our souls are equal. Women are sometimes smarter than men, and sometimes even physically stronger. But I think some people feel it's better to put men on a higher pedestal for family structure reasons. maybe it works better to have one person make the decisions, without time wasted on argument. Good luck to any guy in finding a women who doesn't want to be involved in decision making. In modern times women do not need men as much for protection and income, So the Biblical times were allot different, and maybe the bible didn't actually have a commandment about the subject. Modern Women make more money than men in many cases and it makes them more confident and gives them more power, that doesn't take away from ability to care for children, and it may make them better able. For the most part the wish for some to make men dominant is fine within an individual relationship but in public matters women and men should receive equal rights, voting, driving etc.
I'm a thirty five YO Christian male and I don't meet many Christian women that want to be the submissive type. Sometimes I want a submissive women and sometimes I don't. If you don't like the sexist males stay away from them. Most men are not.

So.... you're agnostic, why do you care what Christian women think.
The Bible never claims that women are less important or un-equal.
Men and women are different... with different roles to play. That is what the Bible teaches.
At least read the book before you attempt to criticize it. And one man's opinion does not equate the the whole opinion of Christianity.... just as your "one woman's" opinion does not equate to that of all agnostics.

Saint Paul would disagree with you: "The wife's body does not belong to her alone but also to her husband. In the same way, the husband's body does not belong to him alone but also to his wife". (1 COR 7:4).
Women are equal in status and dignity to men....but equal does not mean "same".
Proof: 5 + 3 = 8 .... but 5 is not the same as 3; they are both separate and distinct from each other.

Yes, I do know.
I also know I'm extremely lucky to live in a country where, thanks to the Sister Suffragettes, I'm an equal.
And has nobody read the letter to women, by Pope John Paul II?
I think if I somehow transported myself into the 1950s and couldn't get back... I'd shoot myself.

The only thing Agnostic means is that 'you know you don't know "the meaning of life-and-stuff" (Gnosis)'. It has little to do with "the company you keep."
NO ONE is equal; and so is EVERYONE. Traditional (you say "Christian") men and -women decide not to break their family-tradition.
But if you choose to restrict yourself to this body which dies, then you can be Queen of that body, flail it all over every man you meet (whether you're "married" or not) ... and then die and be buried with it.
In my Heaven, your spirit is freer because you surrender your body---women each to their chosen man, men each to their chosen woman.

According to the Christian dogma, woman are not equal to men. This shows clearly that the bible was inspired by men, plain & simple. According to the gnostic christian writings ("heresies"), women were absolutely equal to men, they were teachers, priestesses, and they wrote scriptures. This was the great revolution of early Christianity, but it was first suppressed, and later condemned and outlawed.
