I learned that babies 'utter' sounds from ALL languages, and the one/s, when they grow up and repeat, is/are the ones that they heard most often. I believe this because when my daughter was starting with the sounds there would be days when I could have sworn that she was a German baby. Then a day or two later and she would be an oriental baby. It was sooo much fun trying to figure which country speech we would hear from day to day.
