I'll go you one better. I believe real love, real peace, and real forgiveness can only exist without an imaginary God to muddle things up. There's a huge difference between subjective expectations and real factual truth. Only after abandoning childish fantasies can one discover real truth. Because Christians so persistently confuse their subjective imagination with objective reality, they can only experience a shallow imitation of real life. Believing in an imaginary God prevents people from discovering objective reality.

Yes, these can exist without "a god". But not without "God "because the actual Creator IS these things in perfection. Without God, who is likewise the inventor of them, and who bestows these abilities to all persons and creatures in all of universes of universes - the cosmos -- such things would never exist. There would be nothingness. The true God is the First Source and Center, the First Uncaused Cause and IS Infinite, Eternal, Omnipresent, Omniscient, Omnipotent, AND also IS a personality from whom ALL other beings beginning with the Original Trinity sprang - and this was an "eternity" occurrence that can not be solved using "time". After that creation was exponential. But the First Father, the One and Only true God, bestows personality and with that comes the ability to love, to forgive to know and be peaceful (or not). It would seem wise to learn more about God for who and what God really is, and then this type of question won't be so mysterious.

They are Godly traits and they cannot exist without God. People who live them without knowledge of the One True God live his law anyway which is written on their hearts. As long as they seek to do good, they are doing God's will. An atheist can and does do good deeds because of God. Just because an atheist denies the existance of God does not mean that God cannot use them for his will to be accomplished.

Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness & self-control are all virtues that are given to mankind through God Himself. These virtues are a gift, and are given by God's grace.
From what do people need forgiveness? Who do they need to ultimately say they're "sorry" to...God.
If there isn't peace in your inner-most being betwee God & man, there won't be "peace" in the world between nations and peoples.
If God didn't love the world so much to make it possible for mankind to have fellowship with his Creator, there would be no meaning for the word, "love".

Depends on the humans but I believe complete love, peace and forgiveness is not going to be happening anytime soon and we have proof of that by watching the news.

I believe that those things ARE God. That's what It is. God is LOVE. It's also all of the good qualities in people. The power of the good stuff is what connects us - and that's God.
But - you can absolutely be an atheist and have all of that stuff.
But - by my way of thinking - there is no such thing as an atheist - because mostly everyone believes in LOVE - because they have experienced it. And - God is LOVE!
Hope that makes sense!
Namaste!

Please allow the scripture to answer this question,
"He that does not love has not come to know God, because GOD IS LOVE" 1John 4 :8
The son of God, Jesus Christ was oftan called the "prince of peace " Isaiah 9 :6(for example)
Forgiveness was the 5th point brought out in The Lord's prayer found in Matthew 6:9-12, which reads ," and forgive us our debts, as we has also forgiven our debtors."
and Matthew 12 ; 14 reads, "For if you forgive men their trespasses, your Heavenly Father will also forgive you. "
well , looks like to me that these 3 qualities of kindness are intertwined/interconnected to God and His son Jesus.

They do exist without God. Look at counties like Japan, or Australia that have natives that never believed in a concept of God, but in ancestors or spirits.
They all experience love, peace, and forgiveness in their communities. They are human traits, not Godly traits.

The absence of God would give full control over to Satan. I give it say another 20 years before God pulls the plug. Then we'll see how much love, peace and forgiveness is left.

I believe we don't need God for love, peace, and forgiveness. Those are all completely human things.
