Creation scientist Em Adjineri (say it out loud) has recently returned from a short excursion studying smurfs in the wild. She has concluded that there is no organism from which the smurf species could possibly have evolved.
Smurfs are small blue creatures that look somewhat like humans and live in mushroom houses. They have a complex social life and a language capable of expressing novel ideas (the mark of a "true" language).
Smurfs' intellectual capacity far exceed that of their closest genetic relatives, suggesting extremely rapid evolution. Additionally, no transitional smurf fossils have ever been found, meaning that smurfs simply "popped" into existence.
This proved that God created smurfs so that children would have something to entertain them on Saturday mornings, allowing their parents to sleep in after a long night of copulation.
Take that, Gargamelutionists!

my theory is... a a blue fish and a unique breed of monkies were able to crossbreed. and somehow, their DNA made an organism fully capable of reproducing.
don't listen to Em Adjineri. that dude is just a mouthpiece for the evangelicals.

If you've seen the movie 'Evolution" with Sean Willian Scott and David Decovny, you will see that "extremely rapid evolution" in the right conditions is possible, and may only be able to be stopped using head and shoulders shampoo.
It is possible that smurfs evolved from early froms of mickey mouse. I agree that further study needs to be done. To find the exact origins.
You will notice that the smurfs died out. This could mainly be due to the fact of there inability to breed, as only one female smurf existed.... however it's also possible that teletubbies evolved from smurfs, creating a completely a-sexual creature...
Other examples of evolution in the cartoon world can be seen from the Flinstones evolving into the Jetsons, which evolved into the simpsons, which evolved into the Family Guy which evolved into American Dad.... Other cartoon species which branches off from the simpsons however didn't evolve into something else inlcude, South Park, Futurama. Beavis and Butthead was a strange adaption to the Simpsons, however, eventually evolved into the cartoons Darhia and King of the Hill. So from these more recent adaptions of cartoons we can see evolution in the cartoon world is possible and does exist.
I hope this helps...

Smurfs follow evolutionary laws, but it's just that their genetics have taken a wrong turn and presents one of the most vicious reproductive cycles in the history of life.
The happy blue smurfs you see are prepubescent, ruled over by an elderly Papa Smurf. Take out your stopwatches, because ONE of these smurfs is going to mature sexually first. When he does, he realizes his genetic imperative, goes into blood lust, and starts killing off ALL his companions, killing off Papa Smurf, then he rapes the Smurfette who gets pregnant and very quickly gestates and lays 120-150 eggs and dies. The last remaining Smurf is left with a bunch of eggs who hatch into the new generation of pre-pubescent Smurfs within hours of each other, and he becomes the new Papa Smurf, the only one to wear a RED hat as a reminder of the bloody process by which he got the job.

Smurfs were evolved from trolls!
And it's a unique variant among higher life... only one female is needed to support the entire population... sort of like ants where there is only one queen in the nest.

Smurfs were not created by God, but by Lord Krishna. That is why they are blue, so children will trust blue people. When Lord Krishna reappears he will turn his devotees blue, and the children must trust them.
