Scapegoat for sure. Imagine how easy it is to live when you can blame the devil for all of your wrongdoing, apologize anyhow and automatically be forgiven - all because you believe in the right god.

I don't really believe in the devil as an anthropomorphic entity who goes around making trouble for the hell (pun intended) of it. I think that most humans have a similar set of bad impulses to contend with, and there's nothing wrong with giving them a name and calling them the devil.

i think that there is a higher power that helps put ideas in our head. but only we can make the decisions so blaming the devil is kinda a scapegoat cause we still choose to do the wrong thing.

You forget God gives each individual free will. You and you alone chose your actions. HOWEVER and let me say however the devil tempted Jesus for 40 days and 40 nights so what makes you think he wont tempt human beings (I know nobody thinks there above God). He merely influences your actions. He whispers in your ear, plays in your head, and will use disguises. Is there a God yes, is there a devil yes. Through your actions you will be judged. No not by Lucifer, but by big pappa himself!! Trust me when I say you should fear God more then the devil!

The devil cannot make anybody to anything.

When you do what you want and blame the devil, it's like raping a provocatively-dressed woman and then blaming her for dressing provocatively.

I don't know if blaming the devil for one's sins is childish Christianity or childlike Christianity, but it is certainly one or the other.

There are many Christians who are neither childish nor childlike. Unfortunately, we tend not to make ourselves as obvious as those who are.

Nothing to do with any mythical creatures influences. Its all by your own making.

Scapegoat. Good happens=God, bad things=Satan.

It's like the people that only do good because the Bible tells them to...how scary is that?

Satan Paints a very pretty picture and it looks so good to us. We wonder how this could hurt us so we end up doing it and before we know it we are in to deep to get out with out help. Satan uses the same things over and over and we keep falling for them. God is our only answer we can not fight Satan by ourselves we are not strong enough. When the blood of Jesus comes against Satan he can not cross the blood line. Thank you Jesus keep us I pray.
