If not, then why doesn't he simply FORGIVE them? If everyone is meant to go to heaven, why not simply let everyone into heaven? They would believe once they got there and saw that it was true. And since he's all powerful wouldn't he be able to control anyone that would be unruly or indignant? So what keeps him from simply letting EVERYONE into heaven, regardless of beliefs? Human free-will has NOTHING to do with GOD'S FREE WILL. If he were just, then he wouldn't set or allow traps such as other religions and incompatible earthly evidence, but yet there it is: http://www.sacred-texts.com http://www.whatjewsbelieve.org http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com http://www.messiahtruth.org http://www.cnn.com evidence in abundance that the christian variety of theology is clearly wrong. If god wanted people to go to heaven, why would he allow this, but yet require faith in christianity as a requirement for admittance? Why give us a brain to reason if we're not meant to reason?

... these issues do not AFFECT you?

Shouldn't you concentrate on doing good things like feeding the poor, helping the homeless, finding cures for diseases, protecting our environment for our future generations, promoting tolerance and love...? You spend all your time arguing about things that aren't hurting anyone. I'll explain:

A gay couple gets married... how does that affect you at all? And besides, even if they don't get married, do you think that will cause them to turn straight? No, they'll still be gay.

How does fetal stem cell research affect you? We have thousands of embryos that are destroyed daily at fertilization clinics - why not use these for good instead of the garbage dump?

Euthanasia... is completely up to the person. It's their choice. If you don't want to die and would rather suffer through a terminal illness, go right ahead. No one's forcing euthanasia. Why worry about it?

Is there a certain type of person who has nothing better to do than whine and complain if they don't like something someone else has said? Personally, I believe in FREE SPEECH, and that includes having the right to answer questions truthfully, and ask them as sincerely . . . without fear that some whiner will report me for it.

So is there a certain type of person who wants to steal away the rights and freedoms of others? Don't they know that by doing so, they will eventually lose their own freedoms? Are they totally stupid or what?

So, atheists claim that atheism is the most logical choice, because god cannot be proven to exist. Okay, cool, I get that. But how is that the most logical? You're ruling out a possibility; an unlikely one, possibly, but one that is there still there. More than once throughout history has something thought to be impossible to exist has actually been proven to, like germs, for a good example.

So, why isn't agnosticism the choice for people who wish to be logical about religion? It allows for everything, and for nothing. You really can't be proven wrong with it, because you can just say, 'Hey, I said it was possible.'

The ramifications of this are pretty weird and perverted.

GOD decided (yes he did, through "wisdom" and the tree of "good and evil") that our bodies were shameful if not clothed. This being said, if he is watching all our gross moments, isn't he a complete hypocrite? Also a peeping Tom and a perv?

My Friends,
I appreciate assistance for each and every one of you whether you are Muslim, Agnostic, Atheist, Christian, or not. It appears that many who profess to be Christians have an attitude that is no different than any other "Worldly Person". I would like for us to examine this and see what scriptures point us in the "other direction". I have never been as embarrassed as I was a few days ago on YA.
Thank you,

I posted a question this morning asking if I should share my beliefs as an atheist with my Catholic mother and received many responses that seemed to insinuate that since I am young (20 years old), I may be going through a 'phase' or that I may 'find my way back'. I don't think these answered were meant to be condescending, as I know that the answerer's replies were with good intentions. It simply gave me the impression that since I am young, my beliefs are not always taken seriously.

I may be young but I am not a child and I am perfectly capable of making rational decisions. I bought my first house at 19 and have held a steady career in a high position since the age of 18. I admit I am a little insulted when I am not taken seriously because of my age.

Speaking generally, there seems to be no shortage of Christians getting animated about aborted fetuses or people in PVS like Terri Schiavo, whom they would keep alive in a mortal existence as long as possible whatever horrible conditions they were in; yet such people seem correspondingly eager to blast people on death row into extinction, often claiming that THAT is their deserved punishment.

If someone's mortal existence is dreadful and they would have gone to heaven anyway without modern medical technology, why would Christians be eager to stall the process? If it's God's place to judge, how can the 6th commandment be overlooked in the name of mortal punishment? Didn't Christ "fulfil" the OT law of "An eye for an eye" (Ex 21)?

This just seems like a contorted accommodation of contradiction. Again, this is a general observation not a sweeping assumption about all Christians: I'm well aware that there are plenty of Christians who differ in these beliefs. Thanks for all answers.
