Dying is probably going to really suck for each of us, and it will suck for people that love you too. Do you think all that suck will really be worthwhile? Remember, if you never lived, you wouldn't feel bad about it.

Yes, actually. Anyway it's not like we have a choice.

When you die (if not very suddenly), your brain will secrete certain chemicals--indeed, it will secrete a chemical similar to a botanical hallucinogen called ayahuasca --which will calm you and help with the transition of the shut down of the body. You may also have visions of those reported by those who have near-death experiences. Whether this is a transition of the soul from the body or an epiphenomenon of hypoxy and brain death has been debated. After that, whatever is supposed to happen will happen and it will be OK and natural.

Dying itself may not "suck"; the fear and thought about dying "sucks" for most people--as does loss. Of course. Is such suffering worthwhile. I don't know. It may be if compassion and wisdom can be wrested from it.

It'll be worth it when we finally give up the ego and quit clinging to any idea of an afterlife. When I slip into oblivion, I'll be happy if I know I've improved things for those I'll be leaving behind.

Yes, but I'm grateful for all the wonderful experiences I have had...things I would never have known if I hadn't been born.
