The simplest answer is that many adherents to various faiths aren't really educated enough to know what exactly they believe and why. Many people never examine their opinions and try to reconcile those things which seem contradictory because it's hard.
I agree with you that though human life is precious, in cases where no real life is possible, why hang onto it?
As for the death penalty, I think it has to do with free will. Murderers choose to forfeit their rights by committing a heinous crime. A fetus or a coma patient has no choice.

Theoretically, if there have been a Heaven and a Hell, it does not artwork out too properly. each physique has a different definition of paradise. somebody's Heaven could desire to be yet another guy or woman's Hell. Heaven for a sado masochistic could probable be Hell. lol could probable be comprehensive bliss for them and it could no longer likely be a punishment.

i think this is because people do not have a real understanding of christian faith. it has become a money grab, a fest of pointing fingers, and a pit of condemning.
sadly, they cannot agree on even one thing as a total body, so they destroy each other over trivial matters.
honestly, is it really a big deal if a gay person is a Christian? no - it isn't. yet there are many who say that a gay person cannot be a christian because they are sinners. of course, the people saying that are compounding their own sin by adding judgement of others to their list of sins.
christianity has become a false religion, filled with all kinds of evil. i cannot imagine what Jesus really would think if he returned to Earth and saw what is happening in his name.
you make very good points. it will be interesting to see the answers. i imagine that you will get alot of crap for your statements, but don't let it get you down.

My answer from an earlier, similar question, yes, cut and paste.
Well sir, I expect that they do think that they are doing you some kind of favor by telling you are headed for hell fire. They do think they warn you of the wrath to come. Although sometimes done with evil intent, like say, Fred Phelps for example. Some of these people do not even realize the great danger they themselves are in.
I agree completely that America is going to burn (is burning), that homosexuality is God's judgment, that the war in Iraq is an unjust and unbiblical war, etc. But those things are the world's things and not the things of the Kingdom. To me, if someone understands the truth and will obey the scriptures, they will live a humble, separated, Agrarian life in obedience to the world of God. Some people, as you state, love to think they are of the elect and love to tell you that you are destined for hell, when they too are going there, just on a different path. They often preach Christ from a worldly aspect, where they do the same as everyone else, just with a Christian flavor. They love that flavor more than they love ice cream. But they are preachers of the world, and not preachers in God's Kingdom.
They say we should fight the good fight and resist tyranny. It is one thing to say "we should resist tyranny", but we cannot resist tyranny when we refuse to resist sin and when we refuse to obey the commandments of God. The most evil tyranny we face is the tyranny of our lusts and desires and the terror imposed by our comforts.
Perhaps if they focused more on themselves, resisting the sin they they so often preach will lead others to hell, there may be more understanding on the part of those they preach to, and in the process, Lord willing, it may even change their own heart.

Yes. They emphasize original sin and eternal damnation as punishment for not agreeing with them. It gives them greater control over people. Preaching the positive aspects of Jesus' message alone would mean they wouldn't have all of the answers.
The sad truth is that people act more on fear than on hope.

Well GOD loves all his children, we as humans think that hell is where some are going and heaven is where others will go. We all go back ot our source, God desires to have us all no matter what we as mortals has done the spirit will have to be dealt with to help it to learn to overcome that negative existence..that is why you can be on your death bed and request forgiveness and the love of God and it be done it is that simple.

I would say statistically that Christians throughout the last 2000 years have and are allowing the majority of humankind to be condemned to hell. Seriously commercial ventures with no more substantial message other than buy my product, have reached more people in less time with their message than Christianity.

Most people would agree with you if they were put into a dreadfull or painfull situation.
If someone I love were suffering and asked, would I?
