Is there a certain type of person who has nothing better to do than whine and complain if they don't like something someone else has said? Personally, I believe in FREE SPEECH, and that includes having the right to answer questions truthfully, and ask them as sincerely . . . without fear that some whiner will report me for it.

So is there a certain type of person who wants to steal away the rights and freedoms of others? Don't they know that by doing so, they will eventually lose their own freedoms? Are they totally stupid or what?

Some people can't win based on the strength of their arguments, so they resort to trying to deny the others the chance to debate them.

I'm the kind of person who does that. There was a person asking the same lame question over and over and over and over and I reported him for doing it. And it doesn't steal away his right. He can set up a different personality at the drop of a hat and come back and cause all kinds of other problems for people.

However, I think that reporting people helps equalize the playing field and helps the people who honestly want to use the site for discussing issues instead of making statements.

I agree with you whole-heartedly that this site should honor freedom of speech and allow people to ask questions and answer questions honestly and openly and getting rid of a few of the as**oles who constantly post here would be the best way to do it.

You certainly have freedom of speech. However, it is the speech you choose that upsets others. It is not that they don't like your response. It is how your response is worded. Be kind and considerate in all your responses. Regardless of how dumb you may think the question is. Remember we are all people and everyone has feelings. When you hurt someone's feelings by choosing inappropriate words to describe your answer, you will have more of a chance having someone complain. Choose your words wisely. There is more than one way to say something. You can be rude or show compassion.

isn't that what they call a "troll" (I'm fairly new here)...if not, it sure sounds like a good characterization.

This doesn't mean that I think everyone who reports a violation is a troll (or whatever you want to call it)...I have reported a few people for blatant violations of the community rules but I have to REALLY not "not like" what some says to bother giving them a "thumbs down"...reporting should be reserved for people who don't respect the rules (which, by the way, these trolls are doing when the misuse the reporting system to censor things they don't like).

The people whose PC nonsense is so out of control that saying "Jesus" in public forums is almost as shocking and offensive as saying [the n-word]. Society has become so obsessed with inoffensiveness that there's a raging market for blatantly, purposely, pointlessly over-the-top offensive shows, music, t-shirts, buttons, etc. *Intelligent* people prefer a climate of honest debate that doesn't resort to nasty ad hominem attacks, but when backed up to the wall by PC-ness will lash out

I know of one type of person (and its not a christian)

While I have no proof, watch out for muslim DC Comics superheroes or "Superfriends" - a number of friends of mine had their accounts deleted shortly after adding a muslim with one of these names.

among the super friends are Wonder woman, aquaman, batman, green lantern, martian manhunter, superman, robin, the Flash (not flash gordon, mind you- but watch for a flash g), etc. check out dc comics website for more possible names

Since we never know who reports I can not give you an answer. But no one will ever admit to reporting anyone. I only report someone if the question or answer refers to being a pedophile.

I believe it is the malicious depressed ones who usually do that and those who cannot accept other people's points of view. There are also some childish people who make it only for fun. These people have no respect.
