I've thought about trying to leave a message for myself in a future life. If I can remember one thing from this life to the next, I'll try to remember to look for the message. What kind of message could I leave that would be clear to my future self that it was from my former self?

Once I think about this possibility, it occurs to me that maybe I already left this message in a previous life. I have remembered that I'm supposed to be looking for the message. Where do I look? What means of communication has been available to people in all time periods? Most people couldn't build large structures, so I'm thinking literature is the place to look. What should I look for? Have you found the message I left for myself?

By the way, this is more of a fun puzzle to think about, not a religious inquiry. Let's put belief aside, assume reincarnation exists, and go from there.

If not, does that mean that God discriminates against animals because we humans are more clever and smarter then animals?
Because I was under the impression that all God’s creatures were created equal.

Did you forget the Archaeopteryx? Or how about the Microraptor?

They both are definately transitional forms with features of both the dinosaur and the modern bird.

And before you say anything ridiculous about Archaeopteryx isn't a direct ancestor of birds, no it isn't. But that isn't what we're looking for. We're looking for a transitional form, which is a different thing. Direct ancestry is not necessary to show lineage and transitions. There are enough anatomical and genetic similarities between Archaeopteryx, birds and reptiles (including the crocodile, which is one of the oldest living species on the planet) to justify calling it a transitional form. To call it an ancestor would be to imply direct lineage when its not needed.

Transitional does not mean ancestral.

Thats saying if there is a wonderful person who devotes their whole lives to helping others are condemned to hell simply for not believing in Jesus while others who have raped and murdered but repented and believe in Jesus are going to heaven? How can a logical person believe that?

Then how does a person that might be born wihout thier limbs and blind justify thier life?

Terry Schiavo the big controversy to let her live or die because many said she has no life in a vegetative state, let her die by removing her feeding tube. Her husband decided she has no pupose so she can die....

This is the big hoopla now with Assisted Suicides..Man wants to determine as well as the individual thier life or choose thier death.

Millions of people cannnot or do not have the ability to enjoy a life as they live on this planet...What do you say to them, regarding hope and a reason they should stay alive?

If I was born blind, did not have any arms or legs I would truly want to die, but what would keep me alive is my faith in GOD that he would somehow show me a purpose why I was born that way and that he is the deciding factor in when my life should end..

And you?

As far as I'm concerned, the strength and appeal of Christ's ministry was/is the message of tolerance and compassion. Whether one acts from a place of genuine compassion based on a pagan, Buddhist, or secular humanist outlook is inconsequential, by my understanding of Christ's teachings. Obviously, by Biblical Literalist standards I am hellbound, but I find that that perspective is so often counter to what I understand about Christian agape. Any Christians out there who shares this perspective?

What, at the very least, can be stated as fact (according to the OT/NT) about a persons existence in Heaven?

I know it's a mystery and everyone has there thoughts and hopes, and much of the vision is shaped by Hollywood. But what would a hypothetical person be doing in Heaven right now?

Here is where mine began.
I was raised as a Jehovah's Witness. My father was the presiding overseer. My older brother was an elder, my sister a volunteer. My mother provided the perfect christian home.
Problem. My father and mother were both alcoholics. They beat their children like in the "movie of the week". My mother never got out of her mumu for ten years after she killed my little brother in an alcoholic rage. My father liked to travel, and he had a penchant for young ,black women. My brother married his therapist, and my sister, well, bless her, even though she was raped by my father, has fallen off the face of the earth.
Yet, they like to talk about the "truth". I talked to my sister about five years ago, and she tried to get me come back to JWs. Now, not all JWs are horrible. Some are people trying to find meaning in the midst of madness.
God, in His Kindness excused me from this life of insanity. I look back, sometimes with sorrow, but mostly with glee.
Now, report this

Over the past week I have read questions from people who are hurting, troubled, confused and seen some pretty heartless responses... what is it in us as humans that shuts off our empathy and understanding for another person?

I myself am an atheist. But my friends aren't. They keep feeding me this crap about God. So can you guys give me some reasons why God (or any religious figure) is not real? I've got an example

Do you believe in the three little pigs? No. Then why should you believe in another book, the Bible?

It's one of my favorite holidays, next to Halloween. I'm so glad it's not about Jesus anymore. It was a seasonal celebration before Jesus, and it isn't even close to his birthday anyway. The whole idea that it was about Jesus is a lie. So now it's about good will toward men, family time, pretty lights and fun toys! (Not imaginary guilt) Yay!

So is a day a day? Is it a thousand years? Is one day equal to seven days?

How about it?

Gen.2:4:
These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the DAY that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens.

It seems to me that if we accept the obvious - that this life is all there is - then it must be much more precious and meaningful than it would be if it was just a brief prelude to an eternal afterlife. Everything we want to achieve or experience, we have to do in this life, or not at all. Is it better to accept this reality, than to live this life in anticipation of another life that you will never have?

NOT just a song by the Police but a philosophical/theological idea by John Locke. What are your thoughts on this philosophy? I found it rather earth shattering when I was a practicing Catholic.
It made me realize that I am not the sum total of just 'materials' and made me have a much broader perspective on the nature of human beings and inherent divinity. Thoughts? Thanks and Namaste

Hey, I just got my first violation notice for asking the following question:

Where is the cross that Jesus died upon?

Question Details:

You would think, for an event of such magnitude as the death and resurrection of the very son of 'God' himself, people would have done all they could to preserve any evidence, such as the cross he died on. So where is the cross? They could produce evidence of his existence, via things like the shroud of Turin (which isn't actually evidence, since it's a proven fraud), but they can't even produce the cross?

So what's so horrid about asking this question? Inquiring minds wanna know!

Ever heard of the Golden rule of Live and Let Live. From the type of questions many of you post, No!
You don't want to be generalized, yet many of you generalize others? why?
How can you say something doesn't even exist, and hate it at the same time? If you say you don't! then you are not reading your own questions.
Why do you deliberately reject and attack God, and whatever related to God, and yet you don't attack Satan, the Devil? Are you his Attorney, and that is why you place all the blame on God and defend him in your way? Is that kind of blame the parents for what the kids do or don't?
Atheists want to tell others how the majority criminals are thesist. Guess who the Computer hackers are? and how of a major problem is today, especially when everything is depended on computer? Just to name one type of crimes.
When it comes to believing in God, the only one you seems up in arm is against the Christians? why?
Can you live & let Live?

Ponder upon a star Dear Atheist. Ty.

JAKARTA (Reuters) - A plan to carry out virginity tests on female high school students in a district in Indonesia's West Java province has been dropped after a public outcry, media reports said.

The head of Indramayu district, Irianto Syafiuddin, is reported to have made the proposal for virginity tests after a video showing two high school students having sex circulated via mobile phones.

"Because many people oppose it, we cancelled (the plan)," Syafiuddin was quoted as saying by online news service Detik.com.

Syafiuddin could not immediately be contacted, but according to media reports he will look for an alternative way to prevent students from engaging in pre-marital sex.

Students, parents and activists viewed the planned virginity tests on thousands of high school students in the district as a violation of human rights, the Jakarta Post said.

"We can't accept this idea. It's unfair as the porn video was just an isolated case," a female student, Gita, was quoted as saying by the Post.

Many in Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim country, place high value on virginity, although pre-marital sex is not uncommon among the younger generation.

When the jerk sitting next to me starts his annoying finger-tapping on his damn desk, is it Satan sending him Morse-code messages? If so, would I be justified if I had to resort to violence to stop the Prince of Darkness from infiltrating the office environment?
