Good question. It must be enormous . . . and leads me to wonder about the enormous egos of the followers of hell-believing folks who think it's their right to tell me I'm going straight to hell. Very annoying.

Well answer this in return: how just is it for someone to let a killer go free?
The issue comes down to what is just. Before God, we are all sinners because we have all fallen in consequence of Adam and Eve. God, Who is perfect justice, cannot let someone who has broken His law go free. They deserve punishment. Because God is infinite, a transgression against Him is also an infinite injustice. That is why eternal damnation in hell is not about God's ego, but rather about justice. We have all offended the One infinite being and that offense has eternal, infinite consequences.
If you take out the issue of justice, it looks like He just hates us or has a big ego. But if we understand it properly, in light of Him being perfect justice, then we can understand it. It is deserved.
He has made the way to reconcile, to make peace with His just demands. His Son paid our price and made reconciliation possible, our debt paid by His life, death and resurrection. Those who reject that reject the very way to make peace with the Just One Who also loves us - loves us so much as to make a way for His justice to be satisfied.

I have for some time now thought that Satan is just the name of God's Ego.

If a man told me that he was going to burn some people who disagreed with him, I'd KO him and call the cops and a psychiatrist. A deity who said he would do such a thing and burn them forever by the billions is unimaginably insane and evil. Whoever invented such a deity was insane and evil, just like his god.

seems that you're looking at the glass as half empty.
you see, its like the traffic laws. there has to be rules for an orderly society to exist. if you break any one of those rules there is a punishment by the judge. THe judge cannot just let ppl slide or else society would suffer. In this case, God the judge, did let us slide. He paid the price Himself rather than force us to.
When He reconvenes His society in heaven, those who have accepted Him will be counted as innocent. Those who have not, have chosen by default to pay for their own sins and will cannot enter the perfect kingdom.
it's your choice.

Some would say it takes an infinite degree of narcissism. But I've seen some very mortal and finite people with the same lust to torture those who disagree with them.

Well, forever is a pretty long time, maybe it's just a few thousands years or so.
God has no ego, as one is not needed in his line of work.

I feel sorry for you. People go to hell because they choose their sin over God. God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. God cannot allow sinful men into heaven. Do you think that He would allow selfish and sinful men and women enter the beautiful and wonderful place He created for those who have acknowledged their sin and have turned away from it?
