Ever heard of the Golden rule of Live and Let Live. From the type of questions many of you post, No!
You don't want to be generalized, yet many of you generalize others? why?
How can you say something doesn't even exist, and hate it at the same time? If you say you don't! then you are not reading your own questions.
Why do you deliberately reject and attack God, and whatever related to God, and yet you don't attack Satan, the Devil? Are you his Attorney, and that is why you place all the blame on God and defend him in your way? Is that kind of blame the parents for what the kids do or don't?
Atheists want to tell others how the majority criminals are thesist. Guess who the Computer hackers are? and how of a major problem is today, especially when everything is depended on computer? Just to name one type of crimes.
When it comes to believing in God, the only one you seems up in arm is against the Christians? why?
Can you live & let Live?

Ponder upon a star Dear Atheist. Ty.

Since you probably have never met me, why do you lump me into your mental picture of what constitutes 'Atheist' behavior. Many people that call themselves Atheist, are not. They are merely rejecting religion and are angry for some reason. Having been a born-again, bible-believing, evangelical christian for many years, there are times I am angry for wasting all those years pursuing a better relationship with god and getting to know him/her more intimately.

I don't hate god any more than you probably hate the tooth fairy. It would not be rational to hate something that has no evidence for existence.

Because I am most familiar with Christianity and live in an area of the USA where Christianity is the prevalent faith, those are the folks that I have opportunity to talk with about beliefs and belief systems. Also, in my limited experience, only Christians seem to act like they need to convert anyone that believes differently than they do. I'm not familiar with Evangelical Jews or Muslims.

And I do NOT believe in Live and Let Live. That would lead to just anarchy and chaos. We live in societies of laws and if someone's behavior is outside the limit of what is acceptable to society, then we cannot just turn away and let it go on.

yes, I try and live by it - do you? Or would you prefer to be able to tell people how they should live their lives.

You spend your entire question generalising about atheism. Hypocrite

I assume I'm supposed to be hating your god, which ever one that is, I can assure you I hate your god, or any god, as much as I hate lord voldemort or any other unlikable fictional character. No real atheist hates your god because your god does not exist

I don't attack your god. I attack your religion. It's silly. So the rest that comment about satan is pointless. Again your god does not exist, satan does not exist.

What? All the computer hackers? Every single one of them? I thought people were a bit secretive about that kind of thing. Perhaps you can direct me to their website so I can warn them.

xianity is the largest religion in the developed world (ie the part of the planet with most access to computers). So most people online are either going to be xian or have more experience with the xian faith

To be honest there isn't much to ponder on.

Calling people criminals is an attack

You don't ask with respect - you attempt set up your silly little strawmen trying to tell us that atheists are wrong for something we don't even do in the first place.

Clearly you have some emotion or you wouldn't have gone to the trouble in the first place

Well, you must be responding to what the younger and less tactful atheists say. If, however you took a good look at what some of the more logical and friendly atheists have to say, you'll see that "live and let live" is exactly what we want. I have no desire to rob you of the security blanket your religion has become for you and many others. What needs to be changed is the way politicians use their personal religious beliefs to dictate how those who don't share their faith live. It is also dostressing to hear George Bush Sr. say that atheists don't belong in America. How would you feel if an atheistic president said something that intolerant and politically incorrect about you and others like you?

I don't know if I'm an "Astute Atheist with logic perspective," but here goes.

Yeah, I've heard of the Golden Rule. It's silly. Suppose the Marquis de Sade did unto others as he would have done unto him. Some would resent his actions (although probably not most "Christians").

That last part in parentheses was a joke, incidentally. In this section you'll hear a lot of talk about "Christians" and "atheists" as if they were species with consistent traits. I don't really think it's necessary to specify every time you say anything that you're not talking about ALL atheists or Christians. Context is everything.

Atheists don't believe God exists. If they "hate" or "attack" anything, it's theists who make ridiculous claims on behalf of their God-idea, and try to impose it on secular society. They may criticize the many and glaring contradictions in the typical conception of "God," but that's not the same as agreeing that He exists.

"Satan" is just part of the Christian God-idea, a being invented to account for why "evil" exists in a world ruled by a (supposedly) beneficent God.

Your remarks about computer hackers are just bizarre and apropos of nothing.

Christians tend to be the preeminent target of atheists on these forums because most of us live in 80% Christian America, where crackpot fundies lobby to have mythology taught in public school biology class, and spend millions every year trying to prevent gay people from having equal rights. But for the record, the problem with fundie Christianity is precisely the same as the problem with fundie Islam, etc. It's people with nutty, irrational "religious" ideas trying to force everybody else to group-think with them.

I can't hate a being I have no reason to believe as existing. Now that that part is out of the way, it's easy to say that something doesn't exist. If there is no evidence of it existing, then it most likely does not exist. If there is evidence that it is a hoax, coupled with the lack of evidence that it exists, then it can be ascertained as fact that it DOES NOT EXIST. Now, I can agree with you on the "live and let live" argument, but I also believe in defending ones self and protecting your posterity from the aggression of others.

You may be ignoring this, but many of those that reside within the christian community have chosen to be manipulated by politicians that have ulterior motives to hold high offices. These politicians are experts at pushing the buttons of the religious majority and appealing to their religious beliefs, they've been doing it for decades. These people want to drive up profits for their partners companies and do so by orchestrating events that cause a need for their partners services to increase dramatically. But, that alone does not ensure that their partners will get the contracts, they need the proper people in position to decide to AWARD the contract to their partners. This takes elections and the following selection of personnel to accomplish this task. No people in office, less of a chance to accomplish the goal. So, these politicians run on hot button topics such as GAY MARRIAGE, STEM CELL RESEARCH, and ABORTION. These are not issues that actually matter in the grand scheme of things, these are diversions designed to appeal to a specific group of people and drive them to vote for certain candidates. That's why the issues never die, but simply resurface at each election.

I can't stop them from pushing the buttons of the religious majority, but I CAN try to educate the religious majority so that they see that basing decisions on RELIGIOUS views is NOT the best way to go about things. I can inform them that there are OTHER religious beliefs out there, and that there is just as much evidence against THEIR religion as there is against any other. I can show them that while their view may be right for them, that DOES NOT mean that it should be inflicted on others.

Put simply, if the religious majority would agree to keep their religion in religious venues, and NOT allow themselves to be goaded by politicians that exploit those views to get into office and create wars, take away civil liberties, and slowly but surely create a police state, then I could live and let live. The problem is that most religious individuals can not separate their beliefs from what is best for all, they think their beliefs ARE what's best for all, and thus always fall prey to individuals that choose to take advantage of them.

If you knew what I know, you would do the same. Here's some things that you may want to consider.

http://www.sacred-texts.com

After reading what Jews have to say about their religion and learning the roots of christianity, watching the movie, and seeing the sheer number of religious texts that the world studies and believes in, you tell me if you'd still allow your fellow citizens to be manipulated through this particular means.

No, the burden lies with they occasion making an existence declare. An existence declare in its types is a key factor of logical information. arithmetic frequently relies upon on existence theorems. it incredibly is no longer available to tutor non-existence in any strict experience. the two available ideas could be to outline what god's attributes have been sufficiently, posit that this variety of god exists and discover the contradiction in nature; the different answer is to envisioned the possibilities based upon some Bayesian rule and take the cut back as observations attitude infinity given the actual records. there are various scientific observations that contradict the possibility of a god like the Christian or Muslim god cutting-edge, and each and all of the extra advantageous gods has comparable issues, yet that would not recommend that each and every physique possible gods have been disproved. no one has tried to disprove that there exists a 2 inch tall god that motives rain on Thursdays and is dwelling in Essex, England. it extremely is the subject with disproof. A believer can constantly posit a clean characteristic or new concern that modifications the information and you should start up throughout lower back. faith is complicated via fact it makes affirmative statements, a lot of which won't be in a position to be examined, yet at the instant are not project to alter via fact they have been printed via divine capacity. particular styles of religious questions are previous the easy of thinking. you won't be able to, to illustrate, attempt the virginity of Mary or whether or no longer she became into overshadowed via the main extreme. no one now dwelling became into there. She isn't alive. Jesus is lifeless. The gospel writers are lifeless. we don't understand what they used for information. it incredibly is no longer likely stepped forward scientific exams, even though it remains previous the easy of any real argument. on the different hand, you should ask what actual standards could desire to exist for a miracle of particular types to take place, jointly with prayer or how the universe could desire to seem to droop the regulations of nature now and lower back. In different words, what could the actual records look like.

Lets break this down a bit as you asked a lot of question's:
1) Yes I have heard of Live and Let Live (and Live And Let Die)
2) Everybody generalizes you've done it already.
3) I can't hate something that I believe doesn't exist (I don't hate God or Satan as they don't exist)
4) I attack both God and Satan as they don't exist.
5) Is computer hacking as bad as murder?
6) I mostly "attack" (Voice my opinion) against Christians as they are the ones who tell me that I'm going to hell and they are the ones who come to my door trying to convert me.

Does that help?

Atheists don't believe in God or the Devil, and merely attack God to insult people's belief in him (it's the religious we hate, not the religion....at least for the most part). Christians attack the Devil enough, so we don't need to, as that would be tacit support of their paranoid fantasies. And is computer hacking really that big of a crime? Really?

John F, are you serious? You ask how many did God kill in the Old Testament then you say 2 million. Did it ever occur to you that God never takes a life without good cause did it ever occur to you that Satan orchestrated the lives of those people making it necessary for God to take their lives? Also, God is the only one who can restore life so He has the right to take life. By the way some people "use" God's name to do horrible things and that is clearly their choice or the work of Satan. Remember Hitler? How many millions did evil move his heart to kill?

How many freakin' times do we have to say we don't hate God, we just don't believe in him.... The Bible is a horrible story though. It is quite possible to think that about a work of fiction. I personally find your idea of god to be unworthy of worship even if it were true.

Second, the point about crime is simple: We are about 10% of the US population give or take. We are only about 0.2% of the prison population. That makes us 50X less likely than average to commit a crime that would send you to prison. If you have any statistics to back up the computer thing, my email is open. I can give you sources for mine.
