My friend took me to church the other day. First time I have been to church in years. My friend asked me to go because they were doing this thing on the atheist movement and I am an atheist. I'm not part of the atheist movement I just don't believe in God. It turned out to be nothing more than a 2 hour hate rant. Basically the guy doing to speech said every hateful thing in the book about atheists. I sat there for the whole 2 hours thinking to myself, what the hell did I do to you buddy???? That was a rude awakening for me as to how much people really hate me for no reason other than I do not believe as they do. I am going to be way more cautious of Christians for now on. If they hate me that much, who knows what they might do to me.

Shouldn't Jesus have known the major Biblical controversies that Christians argue over and cleared them up 2000 years in advance. I mean, then pastors wouldn't have to debate.

I'm attending this weekend in West Palm beach. If you've already been: what was your favorite part or the most interesting point you took away from it?

The greatest story ever told...?
One Y/A user gave this as an answer today:
------------
its a half-decent work of fiction
one dimensional characters
and poorly crafted plot
------------

Do you agree that as a literary work the bible isn't a hot property?

It sells a lot of copies - what's up with that?

I have more respect for those who say that faith is the reason they believe, or because of some other, personal reason. But science and logic are the very things that tell you how very unlikely it is that god exists, there is no way that a creationist can come up with more scientific evidence than an evolutionist, otherwise creationism would be taught in school instead of evolution. So why humiliate yourselves? Why not just argue that god is seperate from science and logic and save your dignity, instead of trying to out-smart scientists and getting yourselves laughed at? Why not just stick with the whole "faith" thing and accept that god cannot be proved scientifically?

For those of you that are familiar with the Frontiersman Camping Fellowship ministry or the Royal Ranger ministry, we held our Territorial Rendezvous this week. And I am so blessed that God was there. There was a great time of prayer after the council fires, and the Spirit of God fell. One evening when the speaker started to speak of the baptism of the Holy Spirit and pentecost the wind began to blow as it did in the upper room, and there was nothing that I could do but fall on my face and praise God. Even as it began to rain and there was no one else down at the council fire area I still laid there in tears because I couldn't get up for the Spirit of the Lord was too heavy on me. But enough about what I did this week, what has God done for you? I hope that the Lord has blessed you.

Just want to know-

I've often heard (and from what I've seen, it does seem) that praying to Mary is an important part of your religion. Are there places (not necessarily at Church) where people sing to Mary, kiss statues of her, or kneel to (or bow) in front of a statue of her (I assume this would be done while praying to her)? I've heard that happens, but have you (as a Catholic) personally ever heard of or seen this? What would you think of that kind of behavior?

Nostradamus had predicted the two Antichrists Napoleon and Hitler who are Christians and Charismatic but evil. Nostradamus also predicticted that the third Antichrist would be a middle eastern decent and here we have Barack Hussein Obama United States presidential candidate who also happens to be a Christian, very Charismatic and has middle eastern roots. Obama leads the presidential poll survey.

Obama also could unite the whole world because he represents all races because he is white, black, middle eastern, indian, etc... which is a very ideal trait of an antichrist which the antichrist is suppose to do.

Suppose there was a person who hated God and wished God didn't exist but deep down believed that God did exist and accepted Jesus as his personal savior. Could that person get into heaven?

(This is just a hypothetical, in case anybody is worried that I have gone soft.)

Seam that at least a glimpse of advanced science is in the Bible even though Bible is not a science essay . Consider the following:

String theory:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear." Hebrews 11:3 (KJV)
(NASB) translation:
"By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible."
Earth is suspended:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"He stretches out the north over empty space
And hangs the earth on nothing." Job 26:7

Earth is rounded:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"It is He who sits above the circle of the earth,
And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers,
Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain
And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in." Isaiah 40:22
It doesn't matter what religion, god, or theocratic doctrine...The proponents will certainly direct the issue to favor their particular flavor.
Why do people pray to god and ask for help with everyday life stuff? Alot of people, when good stuff happens to them, they claim it's a miracle from god, especially athletes and celebrities, but also normal people who think that when wonderful things happen to them, it's because of god. If god doesn't help starving Africans, why would he help you? if he's going to be helping anyone, surely it would be the people who need it most?
Ok, my mom passed away 2 yaers ago, but when she was sick she lived with me for a couple of months. Now I have had several people tell me that they seen somebody walking across my house from the room my mother stayed in. These are people that did not even know of my mothers passing or have even met her, but they have discribed my mother in there description, they have even descibed the robe she wore when she use to walk around in my house. I believe my mother went to heaven but how do you explain this.
I'm a Christian, and this doesn't bother me all that much since as a mystic, I see the basic truth that is most complete in Christianity, but is the root of all religions.
However, for the traditional Christians out there, does it bother you that...
- December 25 is also the birthday of Sol Invictus and Mithra amongst others, bread and wine a common theme in Mithraism
- Osiris-Dionysus is God made flesh, the savior and "Son of God", born in a cave of a virgin (manger anyone?), not to mention turned water into wine at a marriage ceremony (Cana anyone?
- Those statues of Horus nursing from Isis breast suspiciously mirror those pictures of Mary with baby Jesus
Those are just off the top of my head, I know there are more.
Anyone care to recognize the borrowing from older religions?
