Most people either follow in the same footsteps, completely turn away or just find a different way. What has been your experience?

Wouldn't that mean Humanity has become an "Intelligent Designer"?

Scientists are never going to stop trying, and one day they will succeed, of that I am sure.

How would that change your thinking?

According to my fellow atheists, the only purpose of our existence is to survive and pass on our genes. Quite frankly, I think that is a crappy and unsatisfying purpose. Please forgive me when I say that you are severely lacking in imagination and inspiration if the best you can come up with is simply to eat, sh*t, reproduce, and die. Can we think of nothing better than that? I think we can, and should.

Consider these words by Richard Dawkins:

"We can leave behind the ruthlessness, the waste, the callousness of natural selection. Our brains, our language, our technology, make us capable of forward planning. We can set up new purposes of our own, and among these new goals can be the complete understanding of the universe in which we live. A new kind of purpose is abroad in the universe. It resides in us."

Have you read this article? It's from 2005, but the validity of the argument is timeless.

Are there any brave Protestants here who would agree?

When arguably the biggest international blunder in US history is performed by a fundamentalist Christian President, does it prove the religion is greedy and war-mongering?

When Fred Phelps preaches that homosexuals, Billy Graham and Swedes are all absolutely hell-bound, does that show the true views held by the Christian Church?

When a group of Christians shouts down a Hindu cleric who has been called by the Senate to offer their morning prayer, does that indicate that Christians are a vengeful, hate-filled lot that cannot abide diversity?

Oh, and by the way, when a couple of atheists display immaturity in their Y!A questions and answers just to get a rise out of Christians, does that mean that atheists are all angry and dogmatic?

Even the earliest Christians recognized that the original texts were distorted and manipulated. How can people, 2000 years after the originals were written quote these verses that were lost, copied by hand hundreds of times, incorrectly copied, manipulated etc.. The bible cannot be the word of god. It is impossible. Are the brains of people who quote verse smaller than the rest of the populace? Are they mentally handicapped? Whats the deal?

What do your words do?
Do your words heal?
Do your words hurt?
Do your words love?
Do your words flirt?
Some folks argue,
That words are words.
That sticks and stones crap,
Is for the birds.
Our words have power,
Over life and death.
Our word condemns,
God's give breath.
Man cannot live,
By bread alone.
But by God's Word,
Does he atone.
So what do your words do?
Do they stand up for truth?
Do they lie or misconstrue?
Do they seek justice,
Or crimes to commit?
Will they take you to Heaven?
Or a bottomless pit?
See I'm just curious,
And I want to know.
The words you speak,
How do they flow?

didn't perform the miracles that Herod and Pilate wanted Him to? Also, why did the Jews want Barnabus, a cold blooded murderer, freed instead of Christ? Curious to see everyone's opinions, esp. other Christians. Thanks for reading.

God has made circumcision to be an EVERLASTING COVENANT:

"He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money (your slaves), must be CIRCUMCISED: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an EVERLASTING COVENANT." [Genesis 17:13]

"And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be CUT OFF (be killed) from his people; he hath broken my covenant." [Genesis 17:14]

GEN017:009-10 -- And God said unto Abraham, Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee in their generations. This is my Covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every male child among you shall be circumcised.

Jesus was circumcised on the eighth day, to fulfill the law: And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb. [Luke 2:21]

Paul even abandoned circumcision
For circumcision verily profiteth, if thou keep the law: but if thou be a breaker of the law, thy circumcision is made uncircumcision. Therefore if the uncircumcision keep the righteousness of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision?" [Romans 2:25-26]

GAL005:002 --Behold, I Paul say unto you , that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.

So one sentence from PAUL can invalidate an Everlasting covenant handed down by Abraham himself !!

According to the laws of the Everlasting Covenant Paul has committed a great sin and he even denied to circumcise Titus .

Paul broke A covenant that was to NEVER end as long as they keep the commands of GOD and yet the Majority of the Christians today don’t care to see what misguidance Paul introduced into the message of Jesus.

What are the Commandments of God which Jesus said to keep ?

"Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples: 'The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat. So you must obey them and do EVERYTHING they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach.' (Matthew 23:1-3)"

Jesus strongly approves of the law and the prophets. "Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest part or the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all things have taken place." (Matthew 5:17 NAB)

All of the Old Testament laws will be binding forever. "It is easier for Heaven and Earth to pass away than for the smallest part of the letter of the law to become invalid." (Luke 16:17 NAB)

He that hath my commandments, and KEEPETH THEM, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be LOVED OF MY FATHER, and I WILL LOVE HIM, and will manifest myself to him [John 14:21]

God did not change his mind and reverse his decision for an everlasting covenant through circumcism.

The word of GOD is superior to the word of Paul.

But..since idahomike2 is gone... idahomike3 will carry on... but to a much less frequent level... it is not the 10,700+ points lost... the purpose was never about points... it is just the compleat blatent discrimination shown by YA... who needs the hassle... the disgusting email and the blatent hatred...

but he will miss the contact with those who were both supportive and those who had differences of opinion... there were many who had differences with idahomike2 and yet remained civil in their emails... they more than balenced out the crude responces.
Idahomike3 will show up once-in-a-while and may be some of the good folks who contacted idahomike2 will reestablish the connection

The zorastrian belief of offering the dead body to wild animals/birds is more in line with nature to continue the natural cycle than the christian/muslim belief of burying the dead! The zorastrian belief says, that the land becomes unfit for cultivation once the dead are buried there! Hell, even the hindu belief of cremating is less taxing on the environment than burying that renders the land unfit for production!
Should we offer our dead to the wild animals to promote and continue the life cycle instead of harming the environment?

Abraham was chosen to be a Great Prophet of the Creator of the Universe.

Abraham had two sons who were both to be blessed with a Holy Covenant.

The Holy Covenant are promises from The Lord of Abraham in return for taking on the responsibility to "Make Allah/God known to the World" and establishing the “comprehensive laws of God” on the Earth.

Ishmael - first son - ISLAM
Issac - second son - JUDAISM & Christianity

JUDAISM is the covenant through Isaac.
ISLAM is the covenant through Ishmael.

Deut. 21:15 If a man have two wives, one beloved, and another hated, and they have born him children, both the beloved and the hated; and if the firstborn son be hers that was hated:

Deut. 21:16 Then it shall be, when he maketh his sons to inherit that which he hath, that he may not make the son of the beloved firstborn before the son of the hated, which is indeed the firstborn:

Deut. 21:17 But he shall acknowledge the son of the hated for the firstborn, by giving him a DOUBLE portion of all that he hath: for he is the beginning of his strength; the right of the firstborn is his.

Organized religion frightens me. I find it frightenting that it is pushing its way in to government.
So to put this into a perspective that some may understand, would you be ok with you if a different religion pushed its way into government? Would you be ok if the US leaders boasted about being Muslim?
What about even different sects of Christianity. How bout a bunch of JWs or Mormons pushing thier way into government, would you be ok with that?
There are a couple of articles that set the tone for this question. One written in 2004 http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A39968-2004Aug27.html and the other in this weeks Time http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1642651,00.html
