didn't perform the miracles that Herod and Pilate wanted Him to? Also, why did the Jews want Barnabus, a cold blooded murderer, freed instead of Christ? Curious to see everyone's opinions, esp. other Christians. Thanks for reading.

Well, you're so darn nice that I just can't give my usual type of answer---see how your guilt is affecting me????

According to the Bible Jesus followed the Father's plan for him, which meant that he humbly and meekly submit; as he told Peter in the garden, he could have called ten thousand angels to deliver him, but refrained, since this was not fulfilling his duty.

Okay, so that's what I remember being taught back in my Christian days. Have a SUPER-DUPER CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM SUNDAE DAY! :)

Jesus didn't perform the miracles that Herod and Pilate wanted Him to because He won't be manipulated. And if He did those miracles, it probably wouldn't have change anything.

The Jews wanted to free Barnabus because they hated Jesus so much for claiming to be God.

Jesus had to die in order to save mankind from their sins.

Hebrews 9:22 says, "In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness."

Jesus was set a side to do God's work and when he performed miracles it was due to glorifying His father in Heaven; not man. His purpose was to complete the calling He had on His life for everyone, even those that persecuted Him. Pilot let the majority (the jews), rule the sentence for both men and this was already ordained by God whom had this in His plan for His son. The Innocent usually have to pay a price for the guilty, in every scenario. Honesty and love have a high price to pay.

Jesus said: "An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:

"For as Jonas was three days and three nights is the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days in the heart of the earth."

Matthew 12:39-40

Jesus told the scribes and Pharisees in advance, He would not give them a sign, so all the events in the Old Testament prophesied about Him could come to pass.

The people chose Barabas, because that was the plan of Caiaphas, the high priest, that Jesus should die to save the Jewish nation.

"Now Caiaphas was he, which gave counsel to the Jews, that it was expedient that one man should die for the people."

John 18:14

Therefore, Jesus fulfilled all prophecy as the Messiah of the world.

Thanks for asking.

I don't quite understand your first question. Pilate and Herod didn't ask Jesus to perform any miracles that I can remember. Perhaps someone else can help you with that.
On the second question:
The political influence and power of the Jewish Sanhedrin. They were furious with Christ because of His claims...specifically for equivocating Himself with God. In their eyes, He was speaking blasphemy. Also, Jesus had pointed out the hypocrisy of the Pharisees and they desired to kill him.

It wasn't the Jews that wanted Barrabas..it was the Kenites.
Jesus didn't perform any miracles so prophecy would be fulfilled

Isaiah 53:7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.

Jesus wasn't a dancing bear who performed miricles just because someone wanted him too. He had to be sincere.

I don't think people enmass are very smart. The act of even taking a vote was not the right thing to do, because the public is sooooo fickle.

Because of their lack of belief and faith Jesus could not heal or perform many miracles because of peoples unbelief, and it looks as though they were haters of GOD, any way because who would nail some one without having great hatred towards man kind, and if you hate man you really hate GOD. GOD Say's how can you say you love me, yet your brother or sister you see everyday you hate.

The person next to him was named Barabbas...Jesus knew why he was there...
Jesus didn't perform the miracles, because
he didn't do it to entertain others...he did it
to help people.
