Wouldn't that mean Humanity has become an "Intelligent Designer"?

Scientists are never going to stop trying, and one day they will succeed, of that I am sure.

How would that change your thinking?

Well, first you would have to explain how scientists would be able to create life in a lab WITHOUT starting with at least the building blocks of life already created by God! Out of what materials would they create this life? Being that all life forms on earth are carbon-based, I would think that they would have to include carbon in their recipe. ...and if carbon really is a building block of life then they did NOT create it.

I can create a great ship out of Legos...but I didn't create the Lego and if the ship can't exist without the Lego, then I am not the ultimate creator of the ship! Who am I to say that God didn't leave Legos here that would let some future genius turn them into something bigger. After all, he did create flowers and plants and even mold...but left it up to humans to discover ways to use those flowers and plants to make medicines and to use mold to create an antibiotic!

Human beings have been "intelligent designers" since we were created...doesn't the bible say that we were created in his image. If that is true, then it makes sense that we have at least some of his creative abilities (heck, humans only use abotu 10% of their brains...imagine what we could do if we used 100%).

For me, I believe that if it is part of God's plan that scientists succeed in creating life, then it will happen...if it is not his will, it won't happen. So if it does, I wouldn't have a problem...I'd just give the glory to God for creating all the neat things he created (including man) that allowed for such an amazing accomplishment!

They didn't create air but I do breath it everyday even though they have created chemicals that harms the earth and food and our quality of life, since what you have asked is how will it affect us(Christians) it wont because no matter what man does he will never be God and there will never be alife as precious as Jesus Christ the son of God or any other way to spend forever in heaven no matters what man creates.P.S. mankind will never control the weather. This place belongs to God and we are passing through.Just think I told you how you can live forever isn't that amazing and I didn't create anything.hum.God bless you

It will prove Intelligent Design !!!

I'm assuming that the scientists are intelligent. But then, they would have to move from a unicellular organism to something as complex as humans, starting from inorganic matter.

In any case, this is an argument from the future; it's a logical fallacy.

Are you talking about CREATING life or DUPLICATING life as in cloning?

I do not doubt that mad scientists will soon clone human life. This is known as DUPLICATION, like Dolly the sheep. This will open a Pandora's box of ethical questions--Is it murder or suicide to kill your clone??

If you are referring to CREATING human life using intelligent design, as stated in your question, and scientists acting in the same manner as God, they need to START not with sperm and egg in a test tube or DNA; they need to START out with what God started with.....dirt.
Then they can bestow Immortality upon themselves, walk on water, raise the dead, heal the sick, command the wind and waves to obey them and receive obedience, solve world hunger by feeding the masses with five loaves and two fishes, turn water into wine, etc., etc. Do you really think there is any LOVE in science?

This will not affect my thinking, since I don't believe it will happen.

They can't make a Spirit...

They can make as many bodies as they want they will never make a Spirit...

It would not change my thinking, but you know what I reckon God would deem that another Babel and confuse the project... God is powerful and the only creator of life....

No ,it is not going to happen.
Life is created by life only. If your point is ,cloning, or organ duplication,it is not creating life. And to create something with something that is Gods creation is not going to have any impact on my faith, except that He is Great. Forget it man.

This is for Suzi..
Aren't we all options?

They already have - scientists have created and duplicated organs and other life forms. As a Christian, I'm not one to judge. I do think that this is a useful acheivement and that it will benefit people in one way, but it's still offending in the same vein as the Tower of Babel.

Satan knows how to create life. Do you think he won't give such knowledge and ability to man?
I expect this to happen quit soon. It would do just as he plans--eliminate human trust in the Creator.
If you are prepared for this, you will know what is actually happening.
What a deceiver he is.

It wouldn't, my only question would be whether we created an animal that has a soul, if we don't comprehend it, can we create it?

wow, some really dogmatic answers here.

I guess we'll just have to let religion destroy itself, because honestly, people who spout the nonsense seen on this thread can't be helped.
