Hmm good question.
Your question reminds me of why people speak about Jonah and the whale - the Bible does not mention a whale, but a big fish.

Oh - I don't know the answer to your question - sorry
sufficient to say that people to continue to make up their own ideas rather than take what the Word of God actually states.
To take this to its logical extremes: - This is why the world is in such difficulties.

It was actually supposed o be the Fig she took a bite of. The historical and anthropolical reason for the apple is The apple was considered the 'evil fruit' because if you slice it horizontally not top to bottom you will see the apple produce five seeds more or less in the shape of a pentacle.

The pentacle is associated with druidic knowledge + evil and witchcraft due to their training in "the mysteries" (earth magic) and refusal to convert to christianity.

Please keep in mind The bible we read today is probably a version passed down by Irish Catholic Monks who sat in Monestaries throughout the dark ages transcribing the Bible, the Tora, (the first five books of the bible), the illead, and many, many other works of literature.
The dark ages took place roughly between the fall of the Roman Empire and ended roughly at the rennaissance. Most people during the dark ages were largely illiterate and uneducated. So it is very important to understand that as far as western civilization is concernred most of our literary works were preserved by Monks in Dark ages Ireland.

The apple was probably inserted then instead of Fig for various reasons. Possibly for anti-druid anti witchcraft propaganda or associative reasons the monks knew it would be easier for the European mind to absorb Apple instead of Fig.

If you really want to understand the religious genisis of the world you need to read the Tora. Jewish people believe there were in fact two creations one the took place long before Eden and Adam And Eve. This "first creation accounts for Dinasours, and the catclysmic "death of the earth." It really is wonderful/terrible stuff.

Gnostic texts said the fruit was a fig. A lot of people are taught the fruit is an apple from Sunday School or VBS. Some people say the forbidden fruit was really Adam and Eve having relations. I was always taught the story was metaphorical so it really doesn't matter.

Well because Eve and Adam bit the fruit with ease. Like you can with an apple. If you had a "pineapple", watermelon, orange etc wouldn't they need to cut the fruit or peel it before hand. And the Bible didn't state any form of peeling or cut in that chapter.

Too if they did actual bite an orange wouldn't it taste bitter Instead of pleasing? :)

Personally I think it could be a peach, plum, or maybe even an apricot.

God told Adam and Eve to not eat the apple. They didn't do what God said and Eve went ahead and ate the apple and felt so ashamed in God's presence she had to wear something over her body. God then told Adam that this was a curse on Adam and also Eve, because she tempted Adam, with the apple. I believe they both ate the apple which turned into a snake and was a sin among them. God, placed a curse on them and generations after them.

Beats me.
I guess thats what we saw in all the bible story books and in paintings and in movies regarding the tree of the Knowledge of Good and evil.

The bible does reveal that eve looked at the tree and saw that it was good for food and she partook of it. But what was the result? Death... that day..both her and adam died spiritually .. their spirit lost its capacity to contact God and fellowship with God.
This tree with its fruit also is a type of Satan.. This tree with its fruit had a fancy fussed up name..
We see two trees.. One simple.. The tree of Life..
The other.. The tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil..
Satan always disguises himself.. God is straightforward.. satan is disguised.. he even came in the form of a beguiling serpent.. cunning.. questioning...confusing.. he does that to this day..making us question God with Good and Evil Knowledge.. Even good things and TRYING to be Good can lead us away from really partaking of God as Life.

So yes.. this was a fruit and whatever we eat becomes a part of us..Its no wonder that after this.. the poisonous nature of satan as sin was injected into man.. usurping man.. defrauding man.. deadening man..

After eating the fruit.. even this one that looked " Good" to eat.. the result was death..
This tree should have actually been called the tree of death don't u think?
May we all be unveiled to see that God wants to give us Life. Himself as the Eternal Life..
He said in Jn 10:10b.. I Have come . that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly:)
Hallellujah!!!

CHOOSE LIFE!!

Personally I never thought about the fruit. I think it's irrelevant to the story and lesson..And I don't think Jesus was white with blonde hair and blue eyes.. I think he looked more Jewish considering he was born among the Jewish people and culture.

Good question. Unfortunately the origin is so far back that no one really knows anymore.

Still, better an apple than a pineapple, I suppose.

It is something which does not even exist any more. Of course that apple or Asian pear thing is just myth.

Tradition. People are taught that and never think to read for them selves that it just says fruit.
