The Maryland State Board of Education has ruled that the right of the state supersedes the rights of parents in teaching children about homosexuality. The Board said the "right (of parents) is not absolute. It must bend to the State's duty to educate its citizens."

The ruling means that the teaching of homosexuality as an accepted and approved lifestyle in Maryland public schools can move forward. Very important! Some professionals feel that the Maryland curriculum could become the model for promoting the homosexual lifestyle in public schools across the nation.

The new policy prohibits any unfavorable view of homosexuality from being presented. A video for use with eighth-graders instructs students on how to put a condom on a pen-s.

--Looks like more reason to home school Christians. It is not the state's right to indoctrinate my children with the homosexual agenda, is it?

I am now 55 and I know that this behavior no longer exists, but I went 8 years to a Catholic grade school that was basically brutal. Although I was very well educated, the amount of physical abuse that was inflcted, only on the boys, by the nuns was outrageous. I remember being beat for not bringing in 20 cents to join a some sort of society for the Blessed Virgin. I saw a classmate of mine beaten so badly that it left him with a permanent nervous facial tick. His dire cirme was leaving a copy of his test results on his desk from one class where a sister from the next class saw it and confiscated it. I suspect that there was something wrong about the test questions that got the first sister in trouble for some reason because when she came in the next day she beat the crap out of my friend. My ex-wife tells stories of children who were abused (made to drink moldy holy water) because they did not leave room on their school desk seat for their guardian angle to sit besde them.

How can you have order in a state without religion? For, when one man is dying of hunger near another who is ill of surfeit, he cannot resign himself to this difference unless there is an authority which declares, "God wills it thus." Religion is excellent stuff for keeping common people quiet.

What are your thoughts on this statement...?

"Religion is largely a matter of geography. Not many kids in Toledo, grow up to be Muslim and not many in Tehran grow up as Baptists."

I asked before about proselytizing and was told that the 7 Noahide laws are all that is required of non-Jews. Does this mean the Torah indicates that there have never been any prophets sent to other communities? What about wise people who are inspired? Does that mean G-d doesn't care if the rest of us are unguided? Thanks for answering!

rather your new in law be a

Atheist
Pagan
Muslim/Jewish/Christian (whatever you're not)

I know this questions seem biased but rarely do atheists or pagans have an opinion on these matters.

As some people feel the need to get on atheists sites and leave preachy posts as well as preach on open forums, does that me we free thinkers should be allowed to drop little notes on christian and muslim boards?

Tell the young believers about secular humanism and free thought? Help them think for themselves instead of accepting what the parents, preachers say?

Is it cool if we pass out little pamphlets to the kids explaining how jesus might not have existed?

What if we just tell them that its okay to be friends with pagans and athiests?

And we found out that all religion on Earth is nothing more than myth. Would that change you from being the kind of person that you are today? If you were a true devout loving Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Buddist, etc...would you stop being so loving?

this question is not intened to offend, just curious of what people would do when faced with this situation.

thanks

Recently a Christian friend of mine (I am also a Christian) pointed out that Saturday may very well be the end of the world. It's 7-7-07 and 7 is considered the number of perfection and is used many times in the Bible, as is 3 and 7-7-07 is 7 3 times. Also, it falls on a Saturday, which is the Sabbath day in the Jewish faith. He is pondering if this is just a really cool coincidence or perhaps the day Jesus will return since it seems to be the perfect day to do so. I'm just waiting for the day to get here and wondering if it really will be the day. Just looking for personal opinions on this. Go crazy!

I really dont understand. It seems like religion is something that should of died a couple of hundred years ago. I mean most churches brainwash there members into believing what they want them to know and to also donate large amounts of money.

Religion is also responsible for millions of deaths around the world over time and also mass suffering. In todays society people fight over who's religion is better and it divides us. I believe in god but I think people should create a personal relationship with god and not fight with each other over who's religion is best.

Religion divides familys, ruins relationship, hinders friendships and just creates narrow minded people. It is really hard to believe that some people here say evolution is false and actually believe that all life just appeared out of the blue one day. Evolution is evident all around us. I am really shocked religion still exists and I wish it would die off. I am tired of religious nuts and being judged on religion.

Jesus Christ loves you, right?

His love is like a father for a son or daughter.

If your child does not love you or believe in you, would you condemn him/her to burn for Eternity?

Would that be a definition of parental love or God's love?

The definition of delusion is: delusion

"act of misleading someone," c.1420; as a form of mental derangement, 1552. See delude. Technically, delusion is a belief that, though false, has been surrendered to and accepted by the whole mind as a truth; illusion is an impression that, though false, is entertained provisionally on the recommendation of the senses or the imagination, but awaits full acceptance and may not influence action.

So a poster said we don't experience GOD it's a delusion. If that''s the case who is mis-leading us by definition? Our Mind?

A person that prays, meditates for healing from GOD and it is granted who did that ? our mind? As a nurse I witnessed people being healed with the power of prayer, when Doctor's have told them what they have is incurable. Is it a delsuion of the mind that is healing them?

If our mind has so much delusional power why can't we accomplish everything that is good and make sure the bad never comes our way?
