Non-mormons who are Christian usually classify mormons as not Christian; non-mormons who aren't Christian just don't care; and Mormons consider themselves Christian.

OK.. first what the_osirica said is wrong. He is getting his info from somewhere other then the church.

Here are some sites that will answer your question, among others. Maybe this will help.

As far as us being Christian, I believe we are. We follow Christ, we believe in Christ, we live our lives as we think Christ would have us do. We follow the commandments, and love our fellow man. We believe it is through Christ we receive salvation. Through His atonement, we can be forgiven of our sins. It is His grace that saves us. But to have grace work for us, we have to show God and Christ that we accept that gift. That's where repentance comes in. We have to repent of our sins, which means admitting we have done something wrong. Then ask for forgiveness and promise to try and never do it again. If that is not Christian, then I guess I'm not one.

By my definition: A Christian Believes that Jesus Christ -- born of the virgin Mary 2000 years ago -- is the Savior or Messiah. Yes, Mormons or LDS people are Christians.

Here is the literal answer to your literal question.

Mormon, one of the last prophets of God on the American hemisphere who had been killed in 385 A.D. by the Lamanites, was a Christian in every sense of the word. He believed in Christ and followed His teachings and precepts, just as did all the prophets before him beginning with Lehi.

If this answer is not the one you sought then you should learn to rephrase your question accordingly.

Mormons are definitely Christians. The name of the Church is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. LDS (Mormons) accept Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior. We believe he is the only begotten Son of God. These are the primary beliefs of our church. Some of our beliefs do differ from that of Orthodox Christianity. We are not Catholic Christians or Protestant Christians. We are Latter-day Saint Christians.

I believe anyone who believes in Jesus Christ, accepts him as the Savior, and strives to live like him and keep his commandments...that's a Christian.

How many times do we have to explain this? We are The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We carry His name. All that we do is in His name. He is the foundation, chief cornerstone, or our faith.
I saw an article today talking about Mitt Romney, claiming his father, George Romney was the head of the Michigan Mormon Church. That shows the ignorance of the writer. There is no such thing as the Michigan Mormon Church. All congregations, wards, and groups of congregations, stakes, belong to the same organization with headquarters in Salt Lake City. Even if George was a Stake President in Michigan, which I believe he was at one time, that does not make him the head of the Church in that area. He would have received his instructions from Salt Lake City, like all the other leaders throughout the world. And where do the SLC leaders get their instructions? They get them directly from Jesus Christ via personal revelation. This is not President Hinckley's church. It belongs to Jesus Christ. The temples are His homes. That is why we have to be worthy to enter them, because we go there to enter His house and to do His work therein.
We are as Christian as anybody can be. We know who Christ is, our Savior, Redeemer, Advocate before the Father, Elder Brother, Friend. We cannot return to our Father in Heaven without Christ's intervention. We can never personally make up for the spiritual debt He paid for us. Nevertheless, we try to be as much like Him as we can for we are saved by His grace, after all that we can do. If we don't even try, then His atonement will be of no effect, having rejected it by our actions and behavior.

I'm a "Mormon" and I believe that I'm a Christian. As to whether others think I am or not doesn't really matter to me. I don't need acceptance from them, but from my Savior, Jesus Christ. He knows my heart and where I stand. Nothing else really matters.

That's a touchy subject, the latter day saints believe that we are Christians because we believe in the saving grace and powers of Jesus Christ, whereas other christian faiths do not because we do not follow the general 'Nicene creed.' we believe in most of the creed, but not all of it, so to them, we are members of a "cult" which infact means that we're a modern church that does not follow the general christian believe (ie the nicene creed).

So, its a bit confusing, so we are christians in that we believe in christ and the new testiment and all of his teachings, but we aren't because we dont' follow the Nicene Creed

Of course we're Christian!

But, to be more precise, we are Saints, which is what the Believers in Biblical times referred to themselves as.
