"I am not at all concerned that God is on our side, for I know he is always on the side of the right - but my constant anxiety and prayer is that I and this nation would be on the Lord's side"
- Abraham Lincoln.

(btw - whoever thought that Abe Lincoln wasn't religious didn't know what he was talking about...)

I do NOT think that this is appropriate for our country's leader to adopt. My country's leader should be a politician - not a preacher.

The United States of America was created so that we might all practice our beliefs how we see fit. My leader has no right to impose his views of God upon me, nor does he have the right to try to sway the masses with religious ideals. If the leader wants to preach, or pray, let them do it in their own church - not on CSPAN.

Religion is a private matter. This is what makes this country so great.

The quote of course has a deeper meaning - That we must look inside ourselves to be sure that what is good and right is what we truly strive for. Are we truly the good guys?

I like the quote personally, but I have very strong feelings about using any religious symbology when dealing with politics. I believe that they should remain separate and private.

I think our current leader doesn't have the brains to understand what Mr Lincoln was talking about.

I'm pretty sure that all of the Taliban participants here would eagerly agree with you.

Needless to say, it's entirely inappropriate for the United States of America, where we have freedom to practice whatever religion we care to practice, or none at all.

No.
I think Georgie's best quote to memorize, live, and love is something more along the lines of "i before e except after c".

too bad we don't have people like that anymore in office, today most politicians motto is

"I am not concerned with having God on my side because God didn't contribute to my campaign fund, I'm most concerned with being on the side with the most votes and the most financial support"

It would be even better to have a leader who realizes that it isn't his job to push any god.
