When history tells us of Countless Virgin Birth stories(Krishna,Zarathustra, Mithra's, Dionysus,Osiris,Horus,Tammuz,
Lao Zi,Attis,Heracles) All pre dating the stories of Christ. I mean it's obvious to anyone know studies other religions and cultures that Christianity is just a re worked copy of other stories that had been previously told. There is nothing unique at all about the myths of Jesus. It's just that some people take the story Literally and some people recognize it for what it really is. Do you feel like you have a firm enough grasp on history to fully understand the evolution of these stories?

Luke:12,4-7
I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more. But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after the killing of the body, has power to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him. Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
Give me your thoughts on this!=)

I have been asking a lot of questions both on Yahoo and just with people I know in general.. practically begging you to convince me of your argument. But I haven't heard anything compelling enough to sway me. All you have said so far is that there is no evidence to support Jesus or any other religion for that matter. Okay, that's fine. But that isn't enough to convince me, because there are other things that cannot be proven with physical evidence but are still in existence, and which many atheists believe in and probably practice daily, such as love. We can't prove it, but we feel it, and we know its there, even though there is no possible way to explain it. Comments?

If someone claims that there is a God they have the burden of proving that God exists right

But doesn't someone who does a counter claim of there is no god also have the burden of proving that God doesn't exist?

Because both parties are claiming something

One claims God does exist

The other claims God doesn't exist

in the end they are both claiming something so doesn't the burden of proof lie with both parties

Also, given that He is held in Christianity to be omniscient, omnipotent and all-loving, why does He not intervene and prevent child abuse by paedophiles?
I am aware that this is a question regarding the Problem of Evil and that many answers will centre on free will having been granted to such paedophiles.

surely some peole loved to swim then. And there was no lycra or spandex or synthetic materials. No wetsuits for chilly days, not even any surfboards to hang 10 on. What did they wear? And since they were probably biblically modest, they probably were dressed from head to toe. What? A bear fur? Donkey fur? They had to wear something modest, right?

Try this:
1. Read the God Delusion by Dawkins, The Demon-Haunted World by Sagan and Atheist Universe by Mills
2. Read the Old Testament
3. Study everything you can about evolution and physics
4. Go to the web-site called the Skeptics Annotated Bible

What do you have to lose? Is anyone willing to take the challenge?

Atheists believe in the big bang theory right? That means they believe that there was a big explosion and all these tiny little atoms fit together in exactly such a way to create the world and the universe and the people and animals in it. Do you know how complex the human body is? If I had all the parts that make up a watch and I put them all in a box (all the little screws, the face of the clock, the hands of the clock, the wrist band, and all the little intricate pieces that make the clock tick on the inside) and i shook it up, no matter how long i shook the box for, even if i shook it for a million years, there is no way that all of those pieces would fall exactly where they needed to go to assemble a perfect watch. A human is far more complex than a watch, and the universe is countless times more intricate. Atheists are saying that there was no creator and so all of this just coincidentally fell into place. Sorry, thats not a very good argument to me. Feel free to comment back with your own thoughts.

Maybe the bible is not the complete truth. Are we cut off from God because there is not new scripture being written? If God is the same yesterday, today and forever, where is our prophets, visions, scriptural writtings? Why are we living in the past? You quote nothing should be added or taken away? That refers to a book, not the whole compilation.

I think modern world belief is jacked up.

If you read the bible or seen movies, like the Passion of Christ, how can you not be moved to believe that Jesus is Christ and died for our sins?

In spite of zero evidence regarding the exsitance of 'god', why do you believe in such a concept? What makes you so sure?

Personally, I believe that religion only serves to divide people based on their beliefs (ie Hindu, Muslim, Christian etc.), and is the cause of most of the conflicts throughout history.

What good has come from religion? I believe that religion was invented as a means to control people - be good and you'll go to heaven, but be bad and you'll be punished for eternity. And yet people from one religion feel its OK to attack people from another religion.

I am an Indian, born into a Hindu family and from a very young age, I never really understood religion. I always believe we are in control of our own lives. Life is what we make it.

What are your thoughts? And don't just say you have faith, please give me a reason.

You can't tell a person they didn't see what they saw without brainwashing them into thinking they didn't see it. or hear it or feel it or smell it etc.

You can't prove that a person didn't see (or hear, feel smell etc.) what they did. so why say its imaginary just because you can't see hear feel or smell it.

Instead of saying something like God, ghosts, and other supernatural things aren't real either prove that they aren't real or quit telling people they aren't unless you can prove it

Shouldn't we have the freedom to believe whatever we want without scorn or ridicule? The earth does not move. It is at the center of the universe.
