OK, here's what happened. I disassociated myself about 7 years ago and it is pretty much common knowledge to all I know. We were supposed to go to a huge BBQ tomorrow at a friends house, some JW, some not. My brother/sister-in-law were not invited because they have done bad things to other family members. They got mad and started calling everyone telling them not to come because I will be there. From there, the entire BBQ got cancelled because of me. It ticks me off because my brother-in-law cheated on his wife and everyone knows it but swept it under the rug. His mother-in-law smokes and no one says anything. Has anyone else seen this kind of hyposcrisy as well? I don't even bring up religion and have never wronged any of these people, but because I decided to leave a church, it is still dictating what I can do and where I can go. Just wondering if anyone else had any similar experiences. Thanks!

O.k if your not religious and don't believe in any gods what do you think will happen once your dead do you think that's it your dead and there is no type of heaven or hell no reward or punishment do you think it would be fair that Adolph Hitler or anyone that done really bad things not to be punished, on the same hand would it be fair for someone like Mother Theresa or someone of the sort who done a lot of good not to be rewarded ?

O.k now for the religious people, if you believe in God why do some of you use fear to get people to believe in him ? And why do some of you judge everyone ?

If you worship other gods(pagan) do you think there is a god like in the Bible and just don't worship him, or do you think the Christian God is silly and there's no proof of him? If so is there proof or the gods you worship?

I don't believe in God since my grandfather died in my early childhood. Before that, I was a religious person, but as I grew up I realised that I've never felt the presence of God in my life, even if I really tried to become closer to Him... I think there is a logical, scientific explanation for the creation and for many other miraculous events from the Bible...So I would like you to show me how do you feel that God is protecting you. Maybe I'll discover the fact that He is also present in my life, but I was too sceptical about His existence..............

In a previous response to a question I asked, a Jehovah's Witness said that CT Russell did not fit the description of a false prophet in Matt 24:23-25 in spite of the fact that he proclaimed "The Christ is here" (in the earth) at a time that Jehovah's Witnesses NOW believe that he wasn't here at all. (The year 1874.)
This answerer went on to say that not even Mr Russell's most vitriolic enemies ever pretended he performed great signs and wonders.

It's rather obvious that one's followers, NOT his enemies, are the ones who perceive "great signs and wonders" on the part of a false prophet.

So if you think Russell was a false prophet, what perceived 'great sign or wonder' did Russell perform which has caused people to look to him as a man "used" by God in spite of the fact he announced 'Christ is here' when Christ wasn't here?

I really want to know without doing bad things ( based on current society moral code ).

My simple reason is I don't want to stay same floor with the greatest murderer of all time, if He did exist.

to help you with his Holy Spirit to plant seeds? Do you ask him to fill you with his Holy Spirit before you tell the lost about the salvation God has for them through Jesus? What I do is that, and then I thank God for answering my prayers after that, as the others listen as I talk about Jesus and God with the power of the Holy Spirit, then after I have spoken to them I will prayer for them to pour out his Holy Spirit upon that person and fill that person so he/she can have a personal relationship with Jesus and his Father, and that they may repent, and live for Jesus, so that they will be saved. I heard someting good the other day christians. You do not tell them that they are going to hell, as they will not understand. It is like a policeman coming to your door and telling you that you are going to prison, then you will not understand why he is doing this. But lets say you are growing drugs in you backyard and selling them, and the cops tell you that because you have been doing this

1-"This people draweth nigh unto me (the Messiah) with their mouth, and honoreth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. But in vain they do worship me teaching for doctrines the commandments of men... they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind both shall fall into the ditch."-Matthew 15:14 (KJV)
2-5So the Pharisees and teachers of the law asked Jesus, "Why don't your disciples live according to the tradition of the elders instead of eating their food with 'unclean' hands?"

6He replied, "Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written:
" 'These people honor me with their lips,
but their hearts are far from me.
7They worship me in vain;
their teachings are but rules taught by men.'[b] 8You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to the traditions of men."-Mark 7

Or... is it Jewish/Christian propaganda? Consider this, how many Jewish nations are there? Just one, Israel? How many Jews have you actually met in your life? In contrast my own opinion is Buddhism or Hinduism must be third, there are roughly 700 - 800mil Hindus in India, China, HK, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, Thai, Viet, Fiji, Nepal, Cambodia, India etc... All have very strong Buddhist traits and unofficial figures show there are at least 200 - 300 mil Buddhists in China alone! When you look at these facts can you really say it is the worlds 3rd biggest religion? I think not, what do you say?

To the secularist: If we are merely animated by stimuli and our responses are instictual like that of animals, how can we have free will?

To Christians and Jews: Doesn't the fact that no two people are exactly alike allready prove that there is no free-will? Person A makes different choices than person B due to what? If you say he has a different personality than I ask where did this personality come from and who or what created it? Who inserted the value of honesty into his soul?
I challenge you to take any action of a man and attribute a character value to it, for example, honesty. Where did this person get honesty from? Why did this person decide to value honesty over dishonesty?
Why do you beleive in God and the man next to you on the bus does not? Do you really think it is because you are smarter?
Who put it in my heart to desire to know the answer to these questions? I am not arrogant enought to say that I am the one responsible................

It was only a harmless lyrics question. What really is wrong with Paul Craft / Bobby Bare's 1976 song "Dropkick Me Jesus Through The Goalposts Of Life?"

After all, it made it to #17 on the country charts back in '76.

In the minds of some people, you either believe in "god" with absolute certainty or you feel just as strongly that "god" could not possibly exist.

Are there people who forgo this forced choice; are their more options?

What are they?

Was it written too late? Are there many passages that contradict the bible?
Here's one passage: Consider, for example, the final saying Thomas contains: "Simon Peter said to them, ‘Make Mary leave us, for females don’t deserve life.’ Jesus said, ‘Look, I will guide her to make her male, so that she too may become a living spirit resembling you males. For every female who makes herself male will enter the kingdom of heaven’" (Thomas 114).

As the July 21 launch date of "Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallow" rolls around, I'm wondering if the fundamentalist Christians, (Fundam-istians) (just the radicals, not the mainstream) who believe it when they're told that J.K. Rowling's children's novels are all about Satanism, are warming up the bonfires early. Or have any of them READ any of the Harry Potter books yet?

One of the commandments the bible says is "Six days you shall labor and do all your work but the seventh day is Sabbath and you should rest? I don't think I'll be getting a job in the future because I don't think I'll be needing the money. I'm getting approximately $70,000. I have it all figured out if I spend $175/week that'll last me for 70 years which is the life expectancy. Instead of working do you think God will count lifting weights as work because it is tiring and work? Walking on a tredmill?
