Well sometimes they do poke fun at someone, a la the Rosie O Donnell question, but no one really cares about her.

I like the tragic typos. But wouldn't you necessarily be the subject and therefore the victim of that joke?

hmmm, many philosophers have tackled the question of humor and its purpose. But the idea goes that

-- humor and laughter are pleasurable and good and non-material
-- for something to exist in this world, it must be present in another capacity outside of this world. (otherwise where would it come from?)
-- all good non-material things come from the metaphysical universe (GOD, ALLAH, THE VOID, THE MIND etc.)
-- because it exists outside of time and space, it is eternal, good, plauserable and perfect.
-- laughter is godlike.

Does that make sense? People have written books on this subject, and some dedicated their lives to understanding these things....i merely repeat it :P

You're not as funny as Tragic.

Good humour always has a victim - that's what makes it funny.
