Jesus Christ said in Matt 6:9 which is commonly called the Lord's Prayer.."You should pray like this: "Our Father in heavens, let your name be sanctified...." as you can see Jesus himself instructed his followers to pray directly to his Father. He also said in John 14:28 "The Father is Greater than I am", thus showing his subordinate relationship with his father. However, as Jesus is Gods means for salvation we must recognise this. Jesus said in John 14,6 "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one can come to the Father except through me." Therefore our faith in Jesus for our salvation is essential to be saved. However the Bible calls God the hearer of prayer (not Jesus) in 1Tim 2:5 the Bible tells us "there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, a man, Christ Jesus." This might sound confusing but think of it this way, Jesus is like the door to his fathers heart, without acknowledging this we cannot have a relationship with his father, therefore we ask all things in Jesus Name but we actually address our prayers to our God and His God in John 20:17 Jesus said "........I am ascending to my Father and your Father and to my God and your God." Yes Jesus does have a wonderful role in God's purpose for us however his father is Still the Almighty Sovereign of the universe so therefore it is only right and proper for us to address our prayers to his Father, just like he did and he is a role model.

I pray to Jehovah (God), I ask forgiveness through The sacrifice God and Jesus made, according to how I forgive others, also. I end my prayers in Jesus name. When Jesus gave us a way to pray, he started it "Our FATHER" , also King David as well as others prayed to God (Jehovah), not Jesus. I'm pregnant and tired. So I'm going to bed. You should research this yourself. If you have further ?'s for me. I would be happy to talk with you. I am open to listening to your beliefs and why as well. I will NOT push my beliefs on you or anyone else. I expect the same. Take care. P.S. I do not believe in the trinity at all. Using a regular bible, I see many misinterpretations.

The Lord's Prayer - we should pray to God directly. Jesus always pointed away from himself to God in Heaven...particularly in prayer.

Good question. If Jesus IS God, why do you not direct prayer toward God? I think it's because humans understand the concept of Jesus being that he was a man better than they understand the concept of 'God'.

Joh 16:23 And in that day ye shall ask me no question. Verily, verily, I say unto you, if ye shall ask anything of the Father, he will give it you in my name.
Jesus came to restore each person's relationship to our heavenly Father, we should go straight to Him as Jesus has indicated in this verse.

Jesus is God. The two names are interchangeable. It doesn't matter which you say.
