Abusurd I am sure they do. Insulting probably. What's REALLY funny is they won't make the connection that that's what they sound like to us
Blessed Be!
*edit it IS comparable. You would be REALLY surprised how many of us follow the old ways. And we are the fastest growing religion (with Islam) in the world. Don't insult my Gods please and I won't insult Yours.

What exactly is "Thor's Wager"? I just did a Yahoo search. The following is the response

'We did not find results for: "Thor's wager". Try the suggestions below or type a new query above.'

And incidentally, there is nothing as "Paschal's wager" either !!

As a Christian I find both of the wagers you listed as non-existent. Is that absurd? Or is your QUESTION absurd?

Errr.... There is no such thing as Thor's Wager.

There is such a thing as Loki's Wager. But the Christians post that all the time too without realizing it. Every time they post something about defining "god" or the "soul", they are posing Loki's Wager.

I'm going to start a toking game, otherwise all of out livers will be shot to hell.

Why do atheists not understand the mythology they speak of.

Almost all mythological gods (Thor, Zeus, Meso-American gods, Druidic gods, roman gods, etc) all relied on constant sacrifice and tribute. As the number of followers of these gods has dwindled dramatically since their high point, to only a few rebellious teenagers who would not know how to perform a "ritual" for any of these gods, these gods would had they existed certainly destroyed the world for not getting their demanded tribute. Or since all these gods had mortal beginnings (Zeus from Cronus, Thor came about following Odin's defeat of the Frost Giants), they would have "died."

You could change from the worship of long-extinct pagan god, to a more contemporary Deity like Shiva, or the other Hindu gods, as then you could make a decent comparison

On the other hand the Judeo-Christian God has billions of followers, and though from the Old Testament of the Bible he does appear to be vengeful, he has not in recent memory had so few a number of followers for him to enact his vengeance. Thus, the comparison is not equal.

Thor didn't make the wager Loki did, over Thor's hammer. Loki got his lips sewn shut by dwarfs because he beat them with logic. Kinda like what happens when you challenge them with logic, they want to do the same .

With Thor there is no wager. Only pain in the form of his hammer if you don't accept him!
