Maybe the bible is not the complete truth. Are we cut off from God because there is not new scripture being written? If God is the same yesterday, today and forever, where is our prophets, visions, scriptural writtings? Why are we living in the past? You quote nothing should be added or taken away? That refers to a book, not the whole compilation.

I think modern world belief is jacked up.

You're right about there being more prophetic writings than what is found in the Bible. One additional book of scripture is called The Book of Mormon, which is another testament of Jesus Christ. It is a record of God's dealings with an ancient group of people living on the American continent. It helps a great deal in understanding the Bible, the nature of God, and the teachings of Jesus Christ. You can read it on-line at

In addition, there are living prophets of God on the earth today. Through modern prophets, many important questions have been answered about our relationship with God and the purpose of earth life.

All this may be difficult to believe, but there are ways to know the truth. I've come to know with certainty that all I've said is true.

All the Dead Sea Scrolls consist of are things that are already in the Bible and other documents that are too incomplete to formulate new scripture. They are some of the oldest original texts available, but there is essentially nothing new there.

In any case, if you are right that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever, then there is no need for new texts. Nothing will have changed. Personally, though, I think you are just being ambiguous.

The Dead Sea Scrolls were determined to not be inspired scripture. This is not determined in an off-handed manner, nor by just a few people.

At the time of the gospels, there were also many gnostic writings which sought to lead people astray and cloud the message of Christ. Many old writings have been found to be just that. They are inconsistent with Bible, with the teachings of Christ and with teachings of the Jewish faith for thousands of years before Christ.

Theologians and scholars, studied and compared the Dead Sea Scroll...the went over them with a fine tooth comb to determine their validity. These people are more knowledgeable then I could ever hope to be on the scriptures...so I trust that they know what they are talking about

The Dead Sea Scrolls really did change the Bible. Keep in mind that a lot of them were fragments of the books already contained in the Bible, so that influenced how we translate and interpret them. A lot of the Dead Sea Scrolls are not religious documents at all, but just records of how that community lived their life. The Christian community fully embraced the Dead Sea Scrolls, whether they are considered canon or not they enriched the way we look at our religion.

Do you not understand what the Dead Sea Scrolls are?

They are ancient copies of some of the books that became the Bible. They are proof that our translations today are very close to the original writings, not something dreamed up.

That is a question that I have asked myself many times. I have read many translations of the dead sea scrolls, such as a gnostic scriptures etc and I have come to ask myself if the bible as we know it is the only truth. Just ask God to enlighten you. He knows the Truth

What's even more interesting is that some of those stories have been found in ancient Christian libraries from Middle ages. They were still valued, just not canonized. But they will tell you its all false. The old Christians didn't think so.

Without some external (i.e.; non-biblical) standard to measure it against, how can you tell if ANY of it is true?

When you understand the history of it, the bible reveals itself to be nothing more and nothing less than the propaganda of a bunch of petty little men pushing their petty little agenda of greed, control, and misogyny.
