Hello everyone, my name is Phil.

So, here I am sitting at a school computer in my library. I am quite angry, so please forgive me if I explode at you.

I have just (around a 1/2 hour ago) been suspened because I had, in my posession, an NIV-translation Bible. I personally have never had an experience like this up until now, but I have seen others who have.

It was in grade seven; one of my friends was "saying grace" right before lunch. BANG, a teacher comes over and drags her to the office!

So here I am in grade ten, almost exactly three years later, and I've been banned from the school for three days because I decided that I wanted to read my Bible once I had finished my work.

I wasn't preaching at people.

I wasn't doing anything wrong... Well, apparently I was because I was suspended.

Anyone else had an experience like this?

I always thought the I lived in a "free" commonwealth country.....

Are they even allowed to DO this to me?

hell. Then they tell you that when Jesus makes his second coming he will judge the living and the DEAD. Does this mean that those who have already been judged at death and comitted to hell will get a second chance?

why are peole so quick to give up on God. I really cant belive what I am reading on the computer. It seems like to me that it is easier to say there is'nt a God and accept societies rules, then it is to say there actually is a supreme being, "GOD", and to give GOD a chance and see what he can do for us. I mean even for a non-believer, just give GOD a chance. Sorry for the complaint, I just cant believe what I am reading.

Fish would be an obvious one, as that is the old christian symbol, when they were being persecuted by the italians. A popular cry at the time 'christians by jove, lets chafe them.'

My husband was baptised c of e along with all his family, i haven't been baptised but my parents were mormons. I am not a member of any religion but im not atheist, i believe theres a god but i don't believe in the bible, i think as long as your a good person and use your common sense you'll be ok at the end,i don't like to complicate things.
My hubby and family want lil one baptised, its all booked up but the vicar said in years to come the church won't exist so maybe we should come to church to ensure its survival through our child.I have nothing against the church but i don't have a calling to go neither does my hubby and family. So im not as into her being baptised, i'll instill my values into her to be a good person and when she's older if she wants to join a church then thats her perogative.Everyones excited about the after party, i just feel a few doubts, its like were lying by going ahead with it. I told hubby but he feels like we have every right to get her baptised, opinions?

I am taking a sociology class this summer and it was mentioned in discussion the various versions of heaven throughout the different theologies.
I was wondering if anyone knows what the differences are between Christians, Hindus, Muslims, Jews, Pagans, Wiccans, and any faith I have left out in their expectation of the afterlife.?
Also, what are the differences between what men expect versus what women expect.?
Consider this a social question rather than simply what you believe as I am hoping to gain insight into various religions if you will.

Didn't it go something like:

Attention:
Present arms:
Draw swords:

And then the moderator would give a scripture...the first to find the scripture would win...

-Am I forgetting anything in this drill?
-What do you think of the correlation to weapons?
-Remembering this, kinda creeps me out...how about you?
-This seems a little like the KKK/brainwashing thing preparing kids for battle of some "foe".

Your thoughts?

Would it be better to not baptize babies? Just let them grow up, and then see what religious calling they have? And then if they want to get baptized let them?

You, religious people, always judge others. But does the Bible really allow that?

I just read an interesting statment form an atheiest. I pray for him, but I also wonder this? If you were living in a city and you had a son. Then one day, the city you are living in is struck with some kind of major catastrophy, like what happened in Luoisiana, or like in the Movie, "War of the Worlds", (not sayign I believe in aliens), would you have the courage to give up the life of your son or daughter, just so someone elses kid could live. I mean think about it before anyone wants to get key happy, It is your only child and if your child goes, then your bloodline stops and your heart will be in so much pain, your creation that you were graced with is gone, for a stranger? I have a 2 year old son that I love to the depths of my heart and soul, and I am also a firm and religious believer in GOD, but I honestly dont know if I could answer this question myself, and God please forgive for saying that. I think it is what makes believers believers. Jesus died for me, can my son?

I see Fireball226 has set herself up as the resident expert on this by telling us all what is and is not religion and spirituality here, so I thought I'd get other people's opinions as well.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Christian_denominations_by_number_of_members
Ephesians 4:5 - ONE LORD, ONE FAITH, ONE BAPTISM
(not thousands of lords, thosands of faiths, thousands of baptisms)
a house divided cannot stand.......
instead of asking ourselves if we are mormon or lutheran, we should ask ourselves if we are believers in christ, we should be more united in our belief in christ than divided
a house divided cannot stand.......
God surely didn't create these denominations

I am Hindu and I believe in reincarnation. I'm still a teenager, but I've learned that the attractive or beautiful people are praised and/or given attention in society. I mean, does anyone really care so much for a person when they're not physically attractive/ugly? When you're in a group of many people, wouldn't you really take notice to the beautiful people and want to talk to them? When the beautiful people are kind, their life is made; society loves beauty. So if someone's life can be much easier/better when they're goodlooking, does that mean a person is ugly because of the sins that he or she did in his/her previous life? I feel beauty is a benefit; a gift. So would that mean that the people that do not receive this gift (ugli ppl) have done something wrong in their past life? Is being ugly a kind of punishment?
