Father's Day ?
My father is dead.
He was the son of a Free Methodist Pastor, but he rejected Christ at an early age, believing instead in self reliance.
During his life he never encouraged his children it know The LORD, or even go to Church. When I was Saved he was insulted, and once reminded me that HE ALLOWED ME TO GO TO CHURCH.
I have a son from my first marriage, I have seen him once in the last 20 Years. I have reached out to him, and he knows just where I live, and where I Minister. Our estrangement isn't because of my actions, or even his, it is because of his mothers attitude.
I am aware that he is now Married, and is a father himself. But I receive no cards, or even Emails, and haven't heard from him in 6 Years. We live in the same town.
Fathers Day ? It means nothing to me ! If I wasn't the Associate Pastor, I wouldn't even be in Church this Sunday.

My dad is an inspiration and my angel from Heaven that God send to me. He is a prizefigther because he used to box years ago and fought valiantly against a stroke that could have paralyzed or killed him. Dad is 73. I call him all the time I write him letters. He is a respectable gentleman in every sense of the word. I sent him a very nice card and a thank you note telling him how much he means to me and Steadfast. I moved 3000 miles from my poppy as I call him but he is still very near and dear to my heart and many others.

When your father has abandonned you to be treated like trash by an abusing mother, and never gave you the time of day for years, never helping us or getting us out of that dangerous woman's claws , who drove my brother to hate her and me to suicide at 18, and everyone away with her lies intended to destroy families and so on.... what would you expect me to do for father's day????
I'll tell you what I'll do: I have reached out to him a few years back, we spoke, I have forgiven him and I sent him a card and will call him on sunday to tell him I love him, that he is loved.

all I can think of is how Hallmark is raking it in with Mother's Day and Father's Day etc etc. When they were alive, I made sure my parents knew I loved and appreciated them on a weekly basis when I went to their home, cooked dinner and cleaned the house every single solitary Sunday for 14 years! What need a card or gift on one single day of the year?

Well, for my husband, who is a father, I haven't quite decided yet. But I don't think I'll be as mean to him...LOL. (We were rearranging furniture on mother's day).
As for my dad and his dad, we've come up with a couple of really cool things for them. For my dad (who lives back east) we put together a care package of several books that I know he's never read before (which is a feat in and of itself) and sent it to him. (My dad LOVES to read and has been needing some new material lately). For his dad we bought a shirt that said something to the effect of world's greatest granddad. (Meh, right?) The cool thing about this shirt is we had all the grand kids put their hand prints on it in fabric paint. The grandkids range in age from 7 to 3 months. So it's kinda cool to have this keepsake of his grandbabies while they were still little. The older ones who can write signed their names on it with cute little messages like "I love you granddad" and things like that. It's pretty cool

My Dad is in a Nursing Home in another state. Several years ago, he had some blood clots. They turned him into a convertable, & he's not been right ever since.
Thinks he's sitting on the flagpole helping the squirrels change the tire on his car. Seriously.

Sorry, Pa's dead.
But I'm teaching Sunday morning service for the flock, and my heavenly Father.
